As the leader of the seminal Chicago band Green, Jeff Lescher unleashed a synthesis of the punk, pop, glam, soul and country music he was obsessed with growing up. Rising from the fertile scene in the 80s that included bands like Material Issue and Shoes, Green released a string of critically acclaimed albums that won praise from SPIN, Chicago Tribune and Village Voice. Author John Borack included them in his lauded book, “Shake Some Action: The Ultimate Guide to Power Pop”.

YOSHIKI appeared as a surprise guest last week (Dec. 11) during the Tokyo Dome performance of KISS's 'End of the Road World Tour.' He shocked the audience by performing piano and drums for two songs during the encore of KISS's only Tokyo show on the band's “Final Tour Ever.” YOSHIKI will also perform with KISS at their Osaka performance at the Kyocera Dome on December 17, 2019.

Hong Kong Repertory Theatre Presents SPEAKING IN TONGUES.

Today, to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of American rock group, The Frogs, founding member Jimmy Flemion has announced their upcoming winter U.S. tour. Performing their prolific discography, the tour will include sounds spanning decades of iconic songs that have set the tone for rock today. The tour will include seven dates across the west coast including one in Canada. Today the band also announces that Evan Dando of The Lemonheads will join Jimmy Flemion on drums for the entire tour. This will be the first tour since the passing of the late Dennis Flemion. The world premiere adaptation of KEY LARGO, already in previews, will open tonight, November 14, 2019 at the Geffen Playhouse. Packed with award winners all around, Oscar nominated actor Andy Garcia stars as Johnny Rocco in his co-adaptation with Jeffrey Hatcher (based on the play by Maxwell Anderson and the screenplay by Richard Brooks and John Huston). Boston's indie/emo bridge-builders Piebald have announced their new EP – Piebald Presents To You, A Musical Christmas Adventure – due out this Friday, November 15th via Photo Finish Records. The band wrote and recorded all three tracks – “(All I Want For Christmas) Is To Rage With My Friends,” “The Rebellion Of Winter,” and “Do Good Stuff” – over a long weekend in September with producer Doug Batchelder in North Reading, Massachusetts, all while building multiple sets to shoot the accompanying artwork. Craft Recordings is delighted to announce the debut vinyl release of Natalie Cole's bestselling, 1994 holiday album, Holly & Ivy. Set for an November 8th release date, Holly & Ivy has been remastered by George Horn and Anne-Marie Suenram at Fantasy Studiosand pressed on 180-gram vinyl at RTI. A CD reissue will be released on the same day. This year marks the 25th anniversary of the acclaimed album—which was the first of several holiday outings in Cole's career.

Supergrass have today announced they are reforming for a theatre tour of the UK, Europe and North America in 2020. The thirteen date tour will kick off in Paris on 4th February, before the UK leg culminates with a huge show at London's Alexandra Palace on 6th March 2020. Tickets go on sale Friday 13th September from 9:00 am.

The cast of 'ANNE FRANK, a musical', based on Anne Frank's life will feature 12 artists on stage to recreate Anne Frank's life filled with the touching music and lyrics written by Jean Pierre Hadida. This production marks the U.S Off-Broadway Premiere of this successful French musical which will be performed for the first time in English (adapted by Dylan Hadida). Directed and produced by David Serero, this new Off-Broadway production will take place at the Center for Jewish History (15 West 16th Street New York 10016), originally produced by Francine Disegni for Broadway Mad Production, Simon & Michal Kalfon.

It is very difficult to tag Johan Osuldsen under one banner. He started out as a dancer and performer, spanning over several decades. Later he became known as a choreographer and director and subsequently directed for television. He is also a composer as well as translator of several musicals (including Stephen Sondheim's 'Company', 'Into the Woods' and Jason Robert Brown's 'The Last Five Years).

Simon Bonney has released the video for his cover of Scott Walker's “Duchess” today via Record Store Day. The track appears on his compilation album Past, Present, Future, out now on Mute.  Past, Present, Future includes songs from his last two albums Forever (1992) and Everyman (1994) as well as 6 new tracks for an unreleased album Eyes of Blue. Now on Amazon! Eight great Edward D. Wood, Jr. novels have been discovered in an attic in Oklahoma. They have been painstakingly reprinted from the tiny text, on aged, yellow paper, to a larger, clearer text on exception cream paper. Countless hours have been toiled formatting and silently correcting typos for a new, refreshing read. It's a major Ed Wood miracle, bringing these lost gospels to the curious modern age. They all bare the original covers, some wonderfully illustrated in the glorious 60s pulp style.  The stories include a crock-pot of weirdos and oddballs, transvestites and strippers, detectives chasing unknown killers, lovely young runaways caught up with seedy carnivals, and much, much more sleazy insanity!

FAMOUS re-opened in April after a successful run in 2018. I decided to speak with the show's Creator/Director Michael Leoni (ML) and producers Michelle Kaufer (MK) and Cassidy Pepper (CP), about how the new production uses stylized movements by the characters, enhanced lighting and sound designs, to bring the play flow so much more fluid than last year's version. The result grabs the audience's attention to the point of being able to hear a pin drop, making the entire experience even more stunning and breathtaking than before. And, of course, its relevance to the #MeToo movement is immediately recognizable as power players move in and out of Jason's life during the party.

The Broad Stage continues their collaboration with Red Hen Press for their final event of the season, Red Hen Press: The Figure of Orpheus in Poetry and Performance on Sunday, April 28 in The Edye at The Broad Stage. Poets selected by Poetry Society of America Director Alice Quinn will perform contemporary poems on the Orphic theme. A film clip from Marcel Camus' Black Orpheus will be shown to represent the theme in cinema, and pianist Paul Barnes will captivate the audience with The Orphee Suite for Piano, his amazing transcription of Philip Glass's symphony Orphee for solo piano. This event is sponsored in partnership with The Poetry Society of America and Red Hen Press.

The 2019 Tribeca Film Festival, presented by AT&T, today unveiled its feature film lineup. Continuing its tradition of elevating exceptional storytelling rooted in today's global film communities, the 18th annual Festival will showcase debut works from emerging talent and new works from notable filmmakers. The program includes discoveries, comedies, music-centered, political and social films. The 2019 Tribeca Film Festival takes place April 24 - May 5.
