THE DJANGO will bring another month of stellar jazz by some of the field’s heroes alongside young, emerging artists.

This year’s honorees have all starred on the Urban Stages stage during their careers and include Tony Award winner Reed Birney will be presented with Urban Stages’ Luminary Award and Terence Archie, Nikki M. James, and AJ Shively will receive a mid-career award.

For its 39th season Undermain Theatre is returning to a full season of professional live performances with a diverse array of exciting productions to inspire and enrich the live theater experience in Dallas.

Westport Country Playhouse will stage the comic satire, “Straight White Men,” by Young Jean Lee, from May 24 through June 5, directed by Mark Lamos, Playhouse artistic director. The show’s 2018 Broadway run made Lee the first Asian American female playwright to have a work produced there. The cast includes Richard Kline, who was a series regular on television’s “Three’s Company” as Larry Dallas. The production reunites Kline and Lamos, who were classmates at Northwestern University. Others in the ensemble are Bill Army, Denver Milord, Nick Westrate, Akiko Akita, and Ashton Muñiz.

Prospect Theater Company announced today that its annual Spring Gala will feature performances and special appearances by Tony, Emmy, and Grammy Award winner André De Shields; Ali Ewoldt (The Phantom of the Opera); Drama Desk Award winner Gretchen Cryer; Drama League and Outer Critics Circle Award nominee Nick Corley and more.

After re-opening the doors of The Marsh Berkeley in August 2021, performing to sold out crowds and standing ovations, fan favorite Don Reed will return to The Marsh San Francisco with Going Out, with new material added.

NAATCO today announced the inaugural production of the NAATCO National Partnership Project: Queen, written by playwright and screenwriter Madhuri Shekar (House of Joy) and directed by Aneesha Kudtarkar.

TheatreWorks Silicon Valley will present Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award winner August Wilson’s sweeping drama Gem of the Ocean. This seminal classic will be directed by Artistic Director Tim Bond, a close friend of the late playwright and a leading interpreter of his work, making his TheatreWorks directorial debut with this play.

Yesterday, the 31st annual Critics Circle Theatre Awards were given. Among the top winners was Cabaret, which took home three top honors at this year's ceremony.

The release of “Mercenaries” is fittingly accompanied with a striking official video. Directed by Mark Jordan (a longtime friend of the band), the video holds a candle to revolutionary writers such as William S. While best known for his roles in film, Hurt got his start on the stage in the 1970s. He appeared on Broadway in Hurlyburly in 1984, for which he was nominated for a Tony Award. Hurt also performed in various off-Broadway productions including Henry V, Fifth of July, Richard II and A Midsummer Night's Dream. 

 Kem Gardner is known for reciting cowboy poetry and Emily Dickinson verses at Utah Symphony | Utah Opera board meetings, both to entertain and motivate his fellow Trustees. Recently, he shared: “Not knowing when the Dawn will come, I open every door.”

According to a Deadline article, acclaimed costume and set designer Tony Walton has passed away at the age of 87. He died on March 2nd from issues related to a stroke. Bridget LeRoy, his stepdaughter, released the news of his death on Facebook, writing, “A fond and loving farewell to the most fabulous stepdad and human being in the world. Love you forever, Tony Walton. Have a great trip.” 

Hackmatack Playhouse has drawn campers to its theater camp for 43 years. But in the last two summers during the pandemic, the camp's open air rehearsal space, picnic tables, fields and attached bison farm have been a particular draw for kids looking for safe and healthy diversions.
