Following rave reviews and audience acclaim at off-Broadway's Atlantic Theater Company this past spring, American Conservatory Theater (A.C.T.) Artistic Director Pam MacKinnon announced today that Tony Award winner and San Francisco native BD Wong will reprise his role as 'Wen Chang' in award-winning Bay Area playwright Lauren Yee's The Great Leap, performing at A.C.T.'s Geary Theater (415 Geary St., San Francisco) from Wednesday, March 6, through Sunday, March 31, 2019. Additional casting will be announced at a later date. 

Playwright/director Elia Schneider--born in Israel, raised in Venezuela and now an American citizen--is known for hauntingly visual productions that transcend language with strong imagery and a dreamlike fresco of movement and design. Her newest work, 'Citizens of the Gray or the Dark Thing that Sleeps Inside Me,' deals with the war of the sexes in the age of the #MeToo Movement. Hitherto, her theatrical productions have mostly emerged from ideas derived from Kafka. Now she is channeling Strindberg for a new work of ensemble creation with her Teatro Dramma. Theater for the New City will present the world premiere of the piece November 9 to 25.  It will be Schneider's Theater for the New City debut.

Amas Musical Theatre (Donna Trinkoff, Artistic Producer) in celebration of its 50thseason, will present The Algonquin Kid, a musical revue about growing up in the Algonquin Hotel, written by Michael Colby.

Westport Country Playhouse stages "Man of La Mancha," the Tony Award-winning musical about Don Quixote's quest for "The Impossible Dream," now playing through October 14. Directed by Mark Lamos, Westport Country Playhouse artistic director, the story of Quixote's battle for good and the love of his fair maiden is written by Dale Wasserman, with music by Mitch Leigh, and lyrics by Joe Darion.

"A Comedy of Tenors"-Ken Ludwig's uproarious follow-up to his Tony Award-winning smash hit sendup of the opera world, "Lend Me a Tenor"-will be the first play of the Hampton Theatre Company's 2018-2019 season, opening on October 25 at the Quogue Community Hall and running through November 10.

Heathers, the off-Broadway musical by Laurence O'Keefe and Kevin Murphy based on the 1989 cult classic film of the same name, wraps up its sold-out run today at Murfreesboro's Center for the Arts, offering audiences an outrageously fun and on-target treatise on mean girls and caught up in the gravitational pull of their starpower at a fictional Ohio high school.

Multi award-winning actor/playwright and Theatre Rhinoceros Artistic Director John Fisher will take audiences on a whirlwind tour of the past with his acclaimed solo show A History of World War II: The D-Day Invasion to the Fall of Berlin at The Marsh San Francisco. Offering a compendium of facts about WWII from the bungled plot to assassinate Hitler ("A mess! Organized by a bunch of loser bureaucrats!") to the big secret - how the Russians won the war for us ("They did all the work!"), this lauded production also surveys the best books on the topic, as well as the most attractive generals who fought the battles and the hottest actors who played them in the movies. The Lion In Winter by James Goldman reigns over Cape May Stage August 8th-September 14th playing Tuesday-Sunday at 8 PM. As a historical fiction, this modern classic pits Queen Eleanor of Aquitaine, after a decade of imprisonment for her part in a rebellion against her husband King Henry II of England. Eleanor arrives at court during a Christmas furlough and proceeds to scheme to challenge the King's authority and his choice of heir to the throne.

Rochester will be the official launch city of the North American Tour of A BRONX TALE with a limited one-week run at RBTL's Auditorium Theatre October 14-21, 2018 as part of the 2018-2019 M&T Bank Broadway Season presented by RBTL and Albert Nocciolino. History Matters/Back to the Future has announced the recipients of its inaugural Sallie Bingham Grant, a monetary award granted to support a faculty-mentored student-directed reading series or full production of a play or plays by a historic female playwright. Four (4) $2,000 grants will be awarded, with an additional $500 stipend for the faculty advisor of each project. 

Blasting off the festival in its 14th year will be the U.S. Premiere of David Gordon Green's razor-sharp new contribution to the HALLOWEEN canon with legendary actor Jamie Lee Curtis—along with HALLOWEEN producers Malek Akkad, Jason Blum and Bill Block in attendance! Concluding a distinguished, award-winning career spanning nearly five decades, Telemundo 47 senior news anchor Jorge Ramos announced that he will be stepping away from the anchor chair following the conclusion of the station's Friday, September 21 evening newscasts. Ramos announced his retirement earlier tonight to his colleagues who were gathered inside the Telemundo 47 newsroom.

The 3rd annual Hip Hop Film Festival was held, fittingly, at the historic National Black Theatre founded by Dr. Barbara Ann Teer who moved to Harlem in 1968 and saw that the once vibrant neighborhood was suffering from a sense of hopelessness after the losses of African American leaders Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X and desperately needed a community space and cultural arts institution that would 'be reflective of the power, grace and excellence of a people' (according to her daughter and current CEO Sade Lythcott).

Hartford Stage Artistic Director Darko Tresnjak and Managing Director Michael Stotts today announced the cast and creative team for Make Believe, written by Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle award-winning playwright Bess Wohl. The world premiere play will perform Thursday, September 6, through Sunday, September 30, to open the Tony Award-winning regional theatre's 55th season. Jackson Gay will direct.
