Bird College - Dance, Music and Theatre Performance today announces that Gary Avis MBE will join the College as a new patron, working alongside existing patrons Christopher Biggins, Baroness Tessa Blackstone, Lara Pulver, Liz Robertson and Dougie Squires OBEMVO, adding to the breadth of ambassadors for the College.

Heathers, the off-Broadway musical by Laurence O'Keefe and Kevin Murphy based on the 1989 cult classic film of the same name, wraps up its sold-out run today at Murfreesboro's Center for the Arts, offering audiences an outrageously fun and on-target treatise on mean girls and caught up in the gravitational pull of their starpower at a fictional Ohio high school.

Multi award-winning actor/playwright and Theatre Rhinoceros Artistic Director John Fisher will take audiences on a whirlwind tour of the past with his acclaimed solo show A History of World War II: The D-Day Invasion to the Fall of Berlin at The Marsh San Francisco. Offering a compendium of facts about WWII from the bungled plot to assassinate Hitler ("A mess! Organized by a bunch of loser bureaucrats!") to the big secret - how the Russians won the war for us ("They did all the work!"), this lauded production also surveys the best books on the topic, as well as the most attractive generals who fought the battles and the hottest actors who played them in the movies. Capturing the Best Actor award from the 2017 United Solo Festival, this highly entertaining work also demonstrates how WWII helped Fisher win boyhood battles with his older brother.  A History of World War II: The D-Day Invasion to the Fall of Berlin  will be presented November 8-December 15, 2018 (press opening: November 17) with performances 8:00pm Thursdays and 8:30pm Saturdays at The Marsh San Francisco, 1062 Valencia St., San Francisco. The Lion In Winter by James Goldman reigns over Cape May Stage August 8th-September 14th playing Tuesday-Sunday at 8 PM. As a historical fiction, this modern classic pits Queen Eleanor of Aquitaine, after a decade of imprisonment for her part in a rebellion against her husband King Henry II of England. Eleanor arrives at court during a Christmas furlough and proceeds to scheme to challenge the King's authority and his choice of heir to the throne.

Westport Country Playhouse will stage "Man of La Mancha," the Tony Award-winning musical about Don Quixote's quest for "The Impossible Dream," from September 25 through October 13.  Directed by Mark Lamos, Westport Country Playhouse artistic director, the story of Quixote's battle for good and the love of his fair maiden is written by Dale Wasserman, with music by Mitch Leigh, and lyrics by Joe Darion.

The Paul Taylor Dance Foundation announced the death yesterday of legendary choreographer Paul Taylor in Manhattan on August 29.

Rochester will be the official launch city of the North American Tour of A BRONX TALE with a limited one-week run at RBTL's Auditorium Theatre October 14-21, 2018 as part of the 2018-2019 M&T Bank Broadway Season presented by RBTL and Albert Nocciolino. History Matters/Back to the Future has announced the recipients of its inaugural Sallie Bingham Grant, a monetary award granted to support a faculty-mentored student-directed reading series or full production of a play or plays by a historic female playwright. Four (4) $2,000 grants will be awarded, with an additional $500 stipend for the faculty advisor of each project.

Concluding a distinguished, award-winning career spanning nearly five decades, Telemundo 47 senior news anchor Jorge Ramos announced that he will be stepping away from the anchor chair following the conclusion of the station's Friday, September 21 evening newscasts. Ramos announced his retirement earlier tonight to his colleagues who were gathered inside the Telemundo 47 newsroom.

The 3rd annual Hip Hop Film Festival was held, fittingly, at the historic National Black Theatre founded by Dr. Barbara Ann Teer who moved to Harlem in 1968 and saw that the once vibrant neighborhood was suffering from a sense of hopelessness after the losses of African American leaders Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X and desperately needed a community space and cultural arts institution that would 'be reflective of the power, grace and excellence of a people' (according to her daughter and current CEO Sade Lythcott).

Hartford Stage Artistic Director Darko Tresnjak and Managing Director Michael Stotts today announced the cast and creative team for Make Believe, written by Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle award-winning playwright Bess Wohl.
