Tomorrow – October 11, 2022 – marks yet another momentous day in the history of Boiler Room Theatre, the late and lamented theater company that originally brought professional theater to The Factory at Franklin. 120 Seats in a Boiler Room: The Creation of a Courageous Professional Theater, the latest book by BRT co-founder Lewis Kempfer (who is an award-winning author in addition to his multi-hyphenate theater titles as director-producer-actor-designer), will be released by Amazon.

Florida Studio Theatre (FST) has announced that two new staff members have joined the theatre’s expanding team. Alex Price is FST’s new Production Manager, taking over responsibilities from the theatre’s previous Director of Production, Bruce Price, who worked at FST for 20 years. Jay Lockaby has joined FST’s Development department as Major Gifts Officer.

Shattered Globe Theatre has announced its 2022-23 Season, currently underway with the Chicago premiere of STEW, Zora Howard’s Pulitzer Prize Finalist for Drama, directed by Malkia Stampley, playing through October 22, 2022 at Theater Wit.

Director Sidney Lumet followed a string of Oscar®-winning 1970s classics with this lavish adaptation of the popular Broadway musical The Wiz, noted for its lively score and all-Black cast.  The Academy Museum’s first anniversary screening of The Wiz will feature live dance performances by the Debbie Allen Dance Studio youth performers.

iHeartRadio will broadcast the opening for a special live edition of “iHeartRadio ICONS with John Mellencamp” nationwide featuring a performance by Mellencamp at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The Kyiv City Ballet, under the artistic direction of Ivan Kozlov, has announced additional cities in their U.S tour, running from September 15 to October 26, 2022. The Fall tour is a US premiere and marks the Kyiv City Ballet’s first United States performances ever. 

Presented by NYU Skirball, Textplay, by Archer Eland, is the world premiere of a virtual play with the dialog appearing as an exchange of text messages that can only viewed on mobile and desktop devices. It runs on the hour, every hour, 24-hour a day, September 20 - December 3, and can be watched from anywhere in the world.

The Casual Dots is a trio formed in Washington, DC in 2002, featuring Christina Billotte (Slant 6, Quixotic, Autoclave) on vocals and guitar, Kathi Wilcox (Bikini Kill, Frumpies) on guitar and backing vocals, and Steve Dore (Snoozers, Deep Lust) on drums. The band has announced their new album, Sanguine Truth, produced by Fugazi's Guy Picciotto.
