Syracuse's Central New York Playhouse latest show is 1940's Radio Hour, written by Walton Jones and featuring various hit songs of the 1940s. Directed by Patricia Catchouny with musical direction by Abel Searor, 1940's Radio Hour transports us to December 1942 the final holiday broadcast of the Mutual Manhattan Variety Cavalcade on New York City radio station WOV.

Seven time Emmy Award-winner Ed Asner and three time Emmy Award and Tony Award-nominee Kate Burton will star in a two-week East Coast tour of concert readings of Jeff Cohen's play The Soap Myth. The readings, which will be directed by Pam Berlin and will also feature Ned Eisenberg & Blair Baker, will serve as a tribute to International Holocaust Remembrance Day. The tour will begin on Monday, January 22, 2018 in Miami Beach Florida, and will conclude on Thursday, February 1 at Hofstra University on Long Island.

From Dec. 6 though 23, Strike up the band because the holidays are alive and thriving at The Players Centre for Performing Arts, in their production of The 1940's Radio Hour. With a book by Walton Jones, based on an idea by Walton Jones and Carol Lees, this patriotic holiday tale will give audiences a dose of nostalgic Christmas cheer. The Players production will have that big band sound you love with a 16-piece orchestra! Students from Pine View School, under the direction of Vic Mongillo, will volunteer their time and talents along with professional musicians to create that classic sound.

Lantern Theater Company continues its 24th season with a world premiere production of The Craftsman by celebrated Philadelphia playwright Bruce Graham. Commissioned and developed through the Lantern's New Works Initiative, Graham's new play spins a darkly ironic tale of ambition, genius, and deception. M. Craig Getting will direct a cast that includes Mary Lee Bednarek, Dan Hodge, Anthony Lawton, Brian McCann, Paul L. Nolan, and Ian Merrill Peakes. Tony Winner Roy Dotrice Passes Away at 94

According to The Washington Post, British actor Roy Dotrice died in his London home on Monday at age 94. Dotrice has played many theater and television roles, notably Leopold Mozart in the Oscar-winning film Amadeus. He received a Tony Award in 2000 for his role in the Broadway revival of A Moon for the Misbegotten.
