The evening will be moderated by James Beard Award-winning Houston chef Chris Shepherd and a portion of each ticket sold will be donated to Southern Smoke. Southern Smoke is a crisis relief organization for people in the food and beverage industry. The Museum of Arts and Design (MAD) presents an exhibition dedicated to the work of American artist Roger Brown (1941-1997), examining the ways in which collecting, arrangement, and the theatrical informed and enriched his artistic practice. Roger Brown: Virtual Still Lifes, on view through September 15, 2019, features works made in the final years of the artist's life that combined his passion for collecting with his groundbreaking approach to painting. Marking the first solo museum show in New York devoted to Brown, the exhibition at MAD offers a rare opportunity to view over forty works that trace the artist's evolution through the lens of collection and display.

Tribeca Film Festival Announces 2019 Short Film Lineup

The 18th annual Tribeca Film Festival, presented by AT&T, today announced its 2019 lineup of 63 diverse and engaging short films in competition, including 31 world premieres. This year's shorts program includes a cross-section of international and U.S. filmmakers, curated from a record 5131 submissions with female filmmakers directing 45% of the selections. The short films will be presented in 11 distinct competition programs, consisting of six narrative, four documentary, and one animation program. There will also be special screening programs for the annual Tribeca/ESPN Sports Film Festival and the debut of shorts from The Queen Collective, a program aimed at accelerating gender and racial equality behind the camera. The 2019 shorts lineup is programmed by Sharon Badal and Ben Thompson. The 2019 Tribeca Film Festival takes place April 24 - May 5.

It's been rumored since early in the new production's run -- and now it's official! Original star John Cameron Mitchell will return to the role he co-created with composer/lyricist Stephen Trask in their musical Hedwig and The Angry Inch, which they debuted in the 1998 hit Off-Broadway production. Mitchell will step into the role on Broadway at the Belasco Theatre starting Wednesday, January 21 for a strictly limited eight week engagement. Mitchell will join co-star and Tony Award winner Lena Hall who continues with the production as Yitzhak.

Larenz Tate (Rescue Me) and Nia Long (Third Watch) have signed on as recurring season two guest stars in the hit SHOWTIME® comedy series, HOUSE OF LIES. Tate will play Marty's (series star and executive producer Don Cheadle in his Emmy®-Award nominated role) younger, less-ambitious, activist brother, while Long stars as a fellow consultant and former classmate of Marty's who proves to be a formidable foe. The casting marks a reunion of sorts for the pair who earned acclaim for their work as gun-shy lovers in the popular 1997 film Love Jones. The second season of HOUSE OF LIES begins shooting in Los Angeles in November for a Sunday, January 13th at 10 p.m. ET/PT debut.
