This winter and spring, Joe's Pub a?" a program and venue of The Public Theater a?" is honoring new voices in musical theater through a variety of shows. From Broadway performers in concert to new musicals presented in the concert setting, there's something for every fan of musicals happening this season. Audiences are invited to celebrate the art of musical theater in non-conventional yet intimate ways with returning artists and new faces alike at Joe's Pub.

Dixon Place has announced their 2020 season, featuring nine commissioned original productions and four puppetry productions, including Concrete Temple Theatre, Sara Juli, Eszter Balint & Stew, Shayna Strype, Rachel Klein, Nora Burns, Marga Gomez, Maria Camia, Andy Manjuck, Dorothy James and Arif Silverman.

Weston Playhouse Theatre Company presents its Walker Farm Music Series, back for its second year. The NYC Department of Cultural Affairs has announced $51.3 million in grants to support public cultural programming at 985 organizations across New York City as part of its fiscal year 2020 annual funding cycle. The funds support groups working in a vast range of disciplines, serving audiences of all ages and backgrounds. Together, the hundreds of cultural organizations receiving this support form the backbone of New York City's vibrant cultural life. The total includes funding set aside for underserved communities and major new investments in nonprofits that directly support individual artists working throughout the city. The agency continues to prioritize funding equity for culture in every corner of NYC and support for goals outlined in the CreateNYC cultural plan.

Abrons Arts Center and The Chocolate Factory Theater, proudly co-present the world premiere of Distances Smaller Than This Are Not Confirmed, a powerful new multi-disciplinary performance co-created by Tony-nominated choreographer David Neumann and New York theater artist Marcella Murray of Advanced Beginner Group, produced by Advanced Beginner Group, and associate produced by Mabou Mines. In Distances Smaller, David and Marcella create a staged conversation of intimate scale on the set of a TV talk show (more PBS than The View) where they unpack their several-years-long dialogue about race alongside astronomical questions of scale and time.

Everything from Matteo Lane giving us very Mariah Christmas (Dec 17) to Isaac Oliver (writer on GLOW & High Maintenance) as your Valentine (Feb 13) to the debut of a very special project by Gloria Reuben (Mar 31) will hit the stage at Joe's Pub in the coming weeks!

The University Musical Society (UMS) announces its 141st season, which runs from September 2019 through April 2020. One of the most acclaimed and innovative performing art presenters in the nation and a 2014 recipient of the National Medal of Arts, UMS will continue to showcase time-honored ensembles and artists alongside a diverse lineup of young performers who push the boundaries of their art forms in new directions.
