MATILDA THE MUSICAL took its final bow on Broadway this weekend and we've got footage of the cast taking their final curtain call - plus their final speeches - at the beloved show.

The holiday season is not complete without the perfect music to accompany it. 'Broadway's Carols for a Cure' is the latest compilation album that embodies the spirit of the season like nothing else can. Theatrical licensor Music Theatre International (MTI) has secured licensing rights to the worldwide smash hit, Matilda the Musical, based on Roald Dahl's novel Matilda.

The Tony Award® winning Matilda the Musical will close on January 1, 2017, after playing 37 previews, 1,555 regular performances, and one Actors Fund performance. The production opened on April 11, 2013 (previews began March 4) at the Shubert Theatre (225 West 44th Street). The show just celebrated its 1500th performance and BroadwayWorld was on hand for the special day. Check out photos below!

Lesli Margherita is an Olivier Award winner for her West End debut as Inez in Zorro the Musical. After over 1000 performances getting 'Loud' in Matilda the Musical as the villainous Mrs. Wormwood, a role she originated on Broadway, Lesli bid farewell to the grounds of Crunchem Hall and crossed the street to The Helen Hayes to star as uber- diva Mona Kent in the Broadway premiere of Randy Skinner's Dames at Sea.  

Two alumni of Matilda's Broadway company and national tour will join the Broadway company this month.

The best of Broadway will be performing FREE on six consecutive Thursdays this summer with '106.7 LITE FM's Broadway in Bryant Park 2016' - a lunchtime series that just kicked off today, July 7 on the Bryant Park Stage. Hosted by LITE FM's on-air personalities, the 16th annual presentation of open-air, On- and Off- Broadway lunch hour performances will run through Thursday, August 11.

STARS IN THE ALLEY, presented by United Airlines, took place just last week in Shubert Alley. Hosted by Tony nominee Sean Hayes and Mo Rocca, Broadway's best once again turned out for the annual performance - including the company of MATILDA, who performed 'When I Grow Up'!

A schoolroom full of MATILDA's 'Revolting Children' may hit movie theaters as early as 2018 according to the show's composer, Tim Minchin.
