On Saturday, September 28, the legendary Steve Miller Band and Jimmie Vaughan Band will perform a special concert celebrating rock and roll as one of the most important artistic movements of the 20th century.

They have held the torch of New Orleans music aloft for over 50 years, playing music that is nothing less than a vibrant living history. Whether tapping into New Orleans' Afro-Cuban roots on their last recording, or providing a "joyous, wide-ranging account…crammed with fascinating facts and toe-tickling tunes" (New York Times) in the award winning award-winning documentary "A Tuba to Cuba," Dixieland jazz - a deeply American music - is deepened further in their capable hands. The Harris Center is proud to welcome them back to Folsom.

Greenwich+Docklands International Festival (GDIF), London's leading festival of outdoor theatre and performing arts, today announces the full programme for the 2019 festival, running from 21 June - 6 July in locations across Royal Greenwich, East London and, for the first time, the City of London. This year, the annual free outdoor festival features more than 130 performances and 15 UK premieres, and includes opening and closing ceremonies in celebration of the spirit of the people and places in which these two major events will take place.

Last night, the BMI Lehman Engel Musical Theatre Workshop held a special performance of memorable songs created during this year's workshop at the quaint Marjorie S. Deane Little Theater in New York City. This esteemed workshop has been cultivating rising talent since 1961 and fostered some of the brilliant minds behind a variety of notable award-winning shows such as Avenue Q, The Book of Mormon, A Chorus Line, Raisin and Nine.

The Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts and The Shubert Organization announced today the 2019/20 Broadway Philadelphia season, featuring a brilliant lineup of Tony Award -winning productions and the latest Broadway blockbusters.

The Country Music Association's new international artist-focused touring series, Introducing Nashville, will join the C2C lineup in Berlin and Amsterdam. Lindsay Ell, Lauren Jenkins and Logan Mize will open the first C2C Berlin at the Verti Arena Berlin with a mainstage performance on Saturday, March 2 and follow up with a performance as part of C2C Amsterdam at AFAS Amsterdam on Monday, March 4. Following the stops in Germany and the Netherlands, a second Introducing Nashville lineup will visit multiple cities in Australia, as well as Auckland, New Zealand and Tokyo, Japan. Multi-instrumentalist Dan Zanes and Haitian-American jazz vocalist Claudia Eliaza bring their educational and interactive children's show to Pepperdine University's Smothers Theatre in Malibu on Sunday, January 27 at 2 p.m.  

Obie Award winner Metropolitan Playhouse brings Robert Ardrey's documentary play to the stage for its first New York revival.  The limited run, closing December 9, 2018, plays at the Playhouse home at 220 E 4th Street.  Alex Roe directs.

The play will be shown from March 21, 2019 until March 24, 2019.

McCarter is proud to welcome a group of esteemed and emerging playwrights and theater artists to Princeton for the Sallie B. Goodman Artists' Retreat. The annual Retreat in June is a centerpiece of McCarter's LAB, a platform and creative incubator devoted to ongoing theatrical development and artist cultivation. The 2018 Retreat will take place from June 6 - June 13.

The Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events (DCASE) is pleased to announce the 40th Annual Chicago Jazz Festival will be hosted from August 24–September 2 in Millennium Park, the Chicago Cultural Center (78 E. Washington St.) and at venues throughout the city. Among many featured headline guests, on September 1 Chicago native Ramsey Lewis will perform his last live performance in Chicago before his retirement. The Actors Fund, the national human services organization for everyone in performing arts and entertainment, will hold its Annual Gala on Monday, May 14, 2018. The evening will celebrate Academy Award-winning actor and filmmaker Warren Beatty, Tony Award-winning Broadway and film director Kenny Leon, currently director of Children of a Lesser God on Broadway, two-time Tony Award-winning actress, singer and dancer Chita Rivera, and Golden Globe-winning, Academy Award and Emmy-nominated actress Uma Thurman. Mr. Beatty, Mr. Leon, Ms. Rivera and Ms. Thurman will be awarded The Actors Fund's Medal of Honor. The event begins with 6 pm cocktails followed by a 7 pm dinner and tribute at the New York Marriott Marquis. The evening will include special tribute performances by guests to be announced.

The Boston Modern Orchestra Project (BMOP), the nation's premier orchestra dedicated exclusively to commissioning, performing, and recording new orchestral music, ends its 22nd season with A Thousand Mountains, A Million Streams: a one-night only concert of Chinese-influenced orchestral music. BMOP presents four vibrant and inventive musical voices who combine Chinese heritage with Western avant-garde influences. Music by composers Yu-Hui Chang, Huang Ruo, Anthony Paul De Ritis, and Lei Liang fill out this dynamic program.

Trinity Repertory Company announced today that three area residents will be honored at its 2018 Pell Awards Gala on Monday, May 21, 2018 in Providence.  Pawtucket-based designer and artist Morris Nathanson will receive a Rhode Island Pell Award for Excellence in the Arts. Longtime Providence philanthropist and arts advocate Jane S. Nelson will receive the Charles Sullivan Award for Distinguished Service in the Arts. The Pell Award for Outstanding Leadership in the Arts will go to Jeannine Chartier in recognition of her work with VSA arts Rhode Island. Additional honorees will be announced at a later date.

The Tribeca Film Festival, presented by AT&T, has been the premier curator of cutting-edge interactive storytelling for more than a decade. The 2018 Tribeca Immersive program showcases works by artists who are pushing boundaries, using technology to tell stories and create new experiences. The Virtual Arcade lineup, presented by AT&T, includes 21 world premiere VR/AR exhibits as well as five Storyscapes experiences in competition. The program takes place at the Tribeca Festival Hub from April 20-28. A new addition to Tribeca Immersive is Tribeca Cinema360, a VR theater featuring four curated screening programs of 360° mobile content, running April 21-28. The 17th annual Tribeca Film Festival takes place April 18-29, 2018.
