Beginning 13 September, Hauser & Wirth will present 'In The Wake,' its first exhibition with New York- based Zoe Leonard. The artist's distinctive merging of photography, sculpture, and installation will unfold over three floors of the gallery's townhouse, debuting three new bodies of work that balance the rigorous conceptualism and personal vision for which she has achieved critical recognition. On view through 22 October, the photographs and sculptures in the exhibition probe the generational impact of displacement and what Leonard has described as 'statelessness as both an individual experience and a shared social condition.

Weill Hall at Sonoma State University's Green Music Center (GMC) announces plans for the 2016-17 Fifth Anniversary Season Opening Weekend. The opening night performance Saturday, October 1, at 7:00 p.m., features the unparalleled kings of Jazz, Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis. Stage Left Theatre is pleased to announce the programming for its 35th season. The season begins with the world premiere of The Bottle Tree by Beth Kander directed by ensemble member Amy Szerlong. The Bottle Tree was developed through Stage Left's Downstage Left program, at the Ashland New Plays Festival and and has received an Honorable Mention on The Kilroys List for the past two years. Next, in the winter, Stage Left and Cor Theatre present a co-production of What of the Night? by Maria Irene Fornes, directed by Carlos Murillo. This epic meditation on poverty in America was a Pultizer finalist in 1990. Cor Theatre Artistic Director Tosha Fowler says of the partnership, 'With admiration for Stage Left's longevity and the exciting opportunities they provide to artists through their strong commitment to mission, we at Cor are thrilled to announce a collaboration of theatre that is bound to leave you breathless. Combining Stage Left's strength with our fearless aesthetic, Fornes' poetically primal voice, and Carlos Murillo's passionate vision, What of the Night is going to be our biggest leap yet.' Finally, the company will present LeapFest, its annual developmental festival featuring workshop productions of new plays, at a time to be announced later.

DENVER – Colorado Ballet received a $75,000 Arts Innovation Grant from the Bonfils-Stanton Foundation for its New Cultural Works Project. The purpose of the Project is to explore Colorado's people and heritage in order to create a diverse body of new works by emerging choreographers. There's a powerfully resonant, special quality to the lifelong oeuvre of a jazz master, such as in the inimitable example of bassist Ron Carter. In the 1960s, integral to the rhythm sections of Cannonball Adderley and Miles Davis, his artistry may have seemed shadowed by the towering giants of the music that was to give voice to the Great Migration, the most significant movement of peoples in U.S. history.
