Bright Colors and Bold Patterns is a riotous new solo play by comic and improvisor Drew Droege that storms the stage with ferocity and wit, deemed 'hilarious' and 'uproarious' by The New Yorker, 'fantastic' and 'pure magic' by Time Out New York, and 'side-splitting' and 'fresh' from The Huffington Post. It had a tremendous 6 month Off-Broadway run, being extended numerous times after being a 'Critics Pick' for both Time Out New York and The New York Times.

The Muny announced today the directors, choreographers and music directors for its 2020 season, which opens June 15 with Kander and Ebb's internationally-acclaimed Chicago. Among the talented list are a mix of Muny favorites and newcomers. In addition to casting, a comprehensive list of design teams for each production will be released later this spring. Telsey + Company is the official casting partner for Muny.

Carolyn Maitland, Dave Willetts and Sam Attwater will star as Rebecca, Avram and Bronfman respectively in RAGS The Musical at Park Theatre, London. The show will run for a limited season from 9 January to 8 February 2020, with a press night on 14 January. RAGS The Musical has a book by Joseph Stein (Fiddler on the Roof), revised book by David Thompson, lyrics by Stephen Schwartz (Wicked) and music by Charles Strouse (Annie).

Global hit COME FROM AWAY has been named the most successful musical in the Comedy Theatre's 91-year history, this week surpassing the box office records of all other musicals staged at the theatre since it opened in 1928.

Cheryl Strayed, author of the Oprah-sanctioned book Wild (later turned into an Oscar nominated film starring Reese Witherspoon), spent some time as an online advice columnist known as Sugar. During her tenure, Dear Sugar became a must-read site, known for dispensing advice with grace, humor, and a deep, deep empathy for the advice-seekers. After her time as a?oeDear Sugara?? ended, Strayed turned her experiences into the best-selling book, Tiny Beautiful Things: Advice on Love and Life from Dear Sugar.

Stage Entertainment has announced the appointment of James Triner as International Executive Producer and Jamie Wolpert as Head of International Development. The appointments reflect the ambition of Stage Entertainment's international creative development and production teams.

On Friday, August 30, the theatre community lost dramaturg Robert Blacker, who passed away suddenly at the age of 71. Longtime collaborator Des McAnuff, who worked with Blacker at La Jolla Playhouse and Stratford Shakespeare Festival, writes a tribute to his friend below:

Ferndale's The Ringwald Theatre kicks off its 13th Season a bit earlier than usual with Disney's High School Musical. Starting performances August 23rd will allow folks of all ages the chance to soak up some high school fun before classes actually start in September!

After 11 years, The Ringwald has retooled their annual Gay Play Series (GPS) into Gay4Detroit, a new all-inclusive gay arts celebration! Gay4Detroit's premiere weekend events will all perform at The Ringwald Theatre June 28-July 1, 2019.
