The New York Times has reported that Allyn Ann McLerie, star of stage and screen, has died at 91. She rose to attention on Broadway at age 21 in Where's Charley? before becoming a familiar star of film and television. Her daughter Iya Gaynes Falcone Brown said the cause of her mother's death was Alzheimer's disease.

A Red Orchid Theatre presents a special summer engagement of Victims of Duty by Eugene Ionesco and directed by Shira Piven. Victims of Duty runs July 11 - August 5, 2018 at A Red Orchid Theatre, 1531 N Wells in Chicago. Press performances are scheduled for Saturday, July 14 at 3:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

Grease is the word, and CPCC Summer Theatre is proud to bring the word to life this summer on the Halton Theater stage when it performs the revival version of "Grease," June 15 - 23.

Turner Classic Movies (TCM) will pay homage to the glittering world of Hollywood musicals with Mad About Musicals!, a special month of programming celebrating timeless movie musicals such as The Wizard of Oz, Singin' in the Rain and Cabaret. TCM is once again partnering with Ball State University and Canvas to offer a free online multimedia course tied to this programming special about the history of the musical genre and its evolution with cultural and technological shifts. The Guthrie Theater (Joseph Haj, artistic director) announced it will present BAD NEWS! i was there… created and directed by JoAnne Akalaitis with Kate Atwell, Greg Taubman and Ashley Tata with original music and sound by Bruce Odland. Playing June 2-3, 2018, for four performances only, this unique theater experience will take place in the Guthrie lobbies in promenade style, which requires patrons to stand and walk during the performance. The Center for Ballet and the Arts at New York University (CBA), the first international institute devoted to the creation and academic study of ballet, today announced the 27 artists and scholars who will serve as CBA Fellows in the 2018-19 academic year. The group - which represents The Center's largest and most far-reaching cohort yet - features distinguished individuals in a range of disciplines, including scholar Cecile Feza Bushidi, lighting designer Brandon Stirling Baker, choreographer Chase Brock, choreographer, filmmaker, and dancer Pontus Lidberg, and scholar Janice Ross, among others.

San Diego Theatre Connection announces BEARSPRAY, a ONE NIGHT ONLY Special Event May 12th at the Lyceum Theatre Downtown. Written by local playwright, Bill Kerlin, this musical parody uses familiar tunes with original lyrics, choreography, and a hilarious new story.
