LAST MAN CLUB Returns June 5-28
by Stephi Wild - May 2, 2019

Axis Company presents a return engagement of Last Man Club, written and directed byAxis Artistic Director Randy Sharp, June 5-28. The "atmospheric, expertly structured one-act drama" (The New York Times), presented first in 2013 and now again as part of Axis's 20th anniversary season, exemplifies the company's work-raw, unblinking theater, staged in Axis's intimate West Village space, that frequently explores dark moments in America's past. As news stories about the acceleration of climate change and its human toll break daily, the production takes audiences to the Dust Bowl, another era of environmental and economic strife catalyzed by unrestrained human greed.

BWW Review: Ludwig's SHAKESPEARE IN HOLLYWOOD Takes TCT Audiences Back to 1934
by Jeffrey Ellis - Apr 9, 2018

Now onstage at Brentwood's Towne Centre Theatre, Ludwig's Shakespeare in Hollywood (not to be confused with the musical Shakespeare in Love, which is based on an Oscar-winning film) once again takes audiences to 1934 to tell the story of the mirthful hijinks surrounding Austrian stage director Max Reinhardt's efforts to film an adaptation of his Hollywood Bowl production of Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream. Reinhardt's film treatment of the work is, perhaps, more critically acclaimed now than when it was first released back during the heady days of Hollywood's golden era and the director has been lauded with praise for his one and only film that starred several silver screen legends in roles that went creatively against type, presenting the actors with tremendous challenges.

BWW Review: WICKED at Shea's Buffalo Theatre
by Michael Rabice - May 20, 2017

Good Triumphs Over All in WICKED. It's hard to know if in 1900 L. Frank Baum ever imagined there would be an afterlife to his children's book 'The Wizard of Oz,' but in 1939 MGM capitalized on book's wide appeal and their film version has became a staple in every child's movie experience. Flash forward 64 years to what can best be described as a prequel to Dorothy's famous journey, and you have the megamusical WICKED, which has become almost as popular as the MGM film.
