The Milwaukee Youth Symphony Orchestra (MYSO) will embark on a performance tour of Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland from July 14 -23, 2019. Performances will take place in the cities of Belfast at the renowned Ulster Hall, in Wexford at the National Opera House, and in Dublin at the famed National Concert Hall, which has become the center of music and culture in Ireland.

At the June 17 Annual Meeting, Trinity Repertory Company's Board of Trustees elected seven new trustees to three-year terms: Judhajit De, Sergio M. Gonzalez, Sean Holley, James Hurley, Lawrence J. La Sala, Sara Shea McConnell, and Julia Ann Slom. Reelected for another term were: Jonathan Duffy, Brian McGuirk, Kibbe Reilly, Kathryn Sabatini, and Arthur Solomon.

William F. Brown, the Tony-nominated American writer who is best known for his libretto to the long-running Broadway musical The Wiz, died on June 23 in Westport, CT, according to his longtime wife and collaborator, Tina Tippit. He was 91.

The French Institute Alliance Fran aise (FIAF), New York's premier French cultural and language center, today announced the 2019 Crossing the Line Festival, featuring 11 performances and a gallery exhibition from a geographically, generationally, and artistically diverse group of artists whose work transcends genres and boundaries. All performances are world, US, or New York premieres; they are united by their convention-breaking fearlessness as they confront topics from social injustice to personal demons. Many of the performances pay homage to legendary artists of our time and previous eras, while the theme of migration and its transformational effects on identity informs several others. The 72nd Annual Tony Awards are this Sunday June 10th at 8/9c hosted by Josh Groban and Sara Bareilles. It's the biggest award show of the Broadway season and it closes out a long awards season for Broadway and Off-Broadway musicals and plays. We can't help but wonder what chances this year's Best Musical and Best Play nominees have of taking home the ultimate prize...

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts Los Angeles (BAFTA Los Angeles) is pleased to announce that BAFTA-winning actress, author and activist Jane Fonda will receive the Stanley Kubrick Britannia Award for Excellence in Film Presented by Cunard at the 2019 British Academy Britannia Awards.

The 2019 Tony nominees are already winners... literally. For some, this marks their first nomination, but others have already won Tony Awards in seasons past. We took a look at which nominees have won at least a Tony or two (or nine) - amongst them, they've gathered a total of 69 awards!

Conor Hanney, Lee Huff, and Angela Todaro will bring their world premiere musical Stranger Things 2: The Musical Tribute to the 2019 Hollywood Fringe Festival in June. There will be five performances only at the Broadwater Black Box Saturday 6/8 at 4pm; Friday 6/14 at 8pm; Saturday 6/15 at 11pm; Saturday 6/22 at 3pm; and Friday 6/28 at 7pm. Running time will be 85 minutes.

The Off Broadway Alliance, an organization of Off-Broadway producers, theaters, general managers, press agents, and marketing professionals, has announced the nominees for the 9th Annual Off-Broadway Alliance Awards, honoring commercial and not-for-profit productions that opened Off Broadway during the 2018-2019 season.

The Actors' Gang presents VIOLENCE: The Misadventures of Spike Spangle, Farmer, written by The Actors' Gang Artistic Director Tim Robbins and Adam Simon and directed by Bob Turton, who was most recently seen at The Actors' Gang as "The Maniac" in Accidental Death of an Anarchist. This no-holds barred satire of militarism and media manipulation begins performances May 2nd (Press Opening May 11th at 8:00pm) and will run Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, through June 22nd. 

The only thematic message, apart from the goes-without-saying affirmation of LGBTQ life choices, is that we should not 'be afraid to play,' which is about as anodyne as they come. But since when need hilarity justify itself with a message?

For its 36th season, Pacific Theatre presents seven plays exploring the questions that power our internal worlds: how do we hold space and identity in a world suddenly transformed? What does it mean to protect a child? Where do we find dignity and freedom as we age? Can a cruel person truly change and be forgiven?

Museum of Art and Design (MOAD) at Miami Dade College (MDC) will present To Write Miami, a series of readings by Miami authors that explores the city's fascinating relationship with literature. Participating writers include Lynne Barrett, Scott P. Cunningham, John Dufresne, Patricia Engel, Fabienne Josaphat, Pedro Medina Leon, Legna Rodriguez Iglesias, Les Standiford,and Hernan Vera Álvarez. Events will take place the last Wednesday of every month from April through October, with an additional activity on May 15. The eight readings will be held at Soya e Pomodoro restaurant in Downtown Miami and they are free and open to the public.
