The Museum of Russian Icons will present Emil Hoppé: Photographs from the Ballets Russes, November 15, 2019 through March 8, 2020. The exhibitions pays homage to the genius of two men: famed Russian impresario Sergei Diaghilev who, more than a century ago, founded the Ballets Russes; and renowned photographer Emil Otto Hoppé, who, between 1911 and 1921, photographed the champions of that illustrious company. 

World Circuit Records is reissuing four of its cornerstone albums. Remastered and available on vinyl for the first time, Ali Farka Touré's Savane and Omara Portuondo's Buena Vista Social Club Presents are on LP and digital formats today, followed by Radio Tarifa's Rumba Argelina and Guillermo Portabales' El Carretero, which are due on CD, LP and digital formats on October 4.

The Art Directors Guild's Gallery 800 (ADG, IATSE Local 800) presents FANTASTIC VOYAGE, an exclusive mixed media exhibition celebrating the genres of Sci-Fi, Fantasy & the Metaphysical Realm. The public will have a unique opportunity to meet and mingle with the artists at the exhibit openingand hosted reception on Saturday, August 31, 2019 from 5:00 - 9:00 p.m. The Fantastic Voyage exhibition will run through November 2nd. Gallery 800 is located in the historic North Hollywood Arts District at 5108 Lankershim Boulevard.

What makes a Broadway theatre? Technically any venue with 500 seats or more, located along Broadway in New York City's Theatre District is a Broadway theatre, and the art that is produced in these special places is widely considered the highest form of theatrical entertainment in the world. Today, forty-one theatres are technically Broadway houses, each with their own rich history. The American-born, Pulitzer Prize winning composer Julia Wolfe, has written a tour-de-force oratorio about the devastating Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire of March 25, 1911, utilizing a huge cast of singers and instrumentalists. Fire in My Mouth(a quote drawn from an interview with fervent labor activist Clara Lemlich) is an absorbing, emotionally charged, and draining performance.

Red Bull Theater today announced the cast for the next REVELATION READING, the New York Premiere of The Shadow of a Doubt by Edith Wharton, directed by Eleanor Holdridge: Emily Brown, Michael Cerveris, Kimberly Chatterjee, Samantha Blaire Cutler, Sanjit De Silva, Adam Harrington, Kathryn Meisle, Amanda Quaid and Brian Wile.  This will take place on Monday January 28th at 7:30 PM at the Lucille Lortel Theatre (121 Christopher Street, between Bleecker and Hudson Streets).

Six new works will have their East Coast premieres October 23-28, when the world-renowned San Francisco Ballet returns to the Kennedy Center with selections from its acclaimed Unbound: A Festival of New Works. Presented over two programs and seven performances, the engagement presents familiar and new choreographers to D.C. audiences whose critically acclaimed new work displays the company's remarkable depth of artistry. The Kennedy Center Opera House Orchestra will accompany the performances. 

Smithsonian Channel continues putting the color back into history, restoring it to life with the return of AMERICA IN COLOR. Season two dives even deeper into historical archives, private collections and home movies, digitizing over 23 miles of footage, in search of the people, places and moments – big and small – that helped define the 20th century. Through rare imagery of the birth of American traditions like the Girl Scouts and the first Indianapolis 500 to in-game footage of the infamous 1919 Black Sox World Series and even the legendary Rockefeller family's own home movies, the series continues to use startlingly detailed restoration and colorization to bridge the decades and present history as it was lived – in color.  Building on the decade-by-decade approach of season one, season two captures the country's explosive transformation: the men and women who drove it, its impact on the land and society at large, and the birth of a mass culture that we still recognize today. From the Golden Age of Hollywood to the Wild West and organized crime, the new season explores some of the most significant moments in American history, now in color for the first time. The 25th annual Lotus World Music & Arts Festival will fill the streets of downtown Bloomington, Indiana with sights and sounds from around the globe (September 27-30, 2018).  Thirty international artists, free large-scale art installations, and events for all ages will fill 14 downtown Bloomington venues with palpable energy and an eclectic blend of global sound and spectacle. Venues range in style from the historic Buskirk-Chumley Theater, to contemplative church settings, to pavement-quaking outdoor dance tents and even a pop-up 360° video-immersion space.
