The National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) has announced its first major grant funding round of fiscal year 2017, which includes a $20,000 grant supporting a co-production of The Secret Garden, created in partnership between Seattle's The 5th Avenue Theatre and Shakespeare Theatre Company in Washington D.C. The critically acclaimed production directed by 5th Avenue Theatre Executive Producer and Artistic Director David Armstrong, has received rave reviews from critics and audiences alike, and recently announced an extension through January 8 for its current presentation in D.C. The Secret Garden will excite audiences at home in the Emerald City April 14-May 6.

The Old Globe today announced the remaining productions in its 2017 Summer Season, including a brand-new comedy, Ken Ludwig's Robin Hood!, and a Summer Shakespeare Festival lineup featuring Robert Sean Leonard in the title role of the towering history play Richard II, directed by Erica Schmidt. Pacific Symphony's upcoming concert presents Spain's pre-eminent pianist Joaquin Achucarro, performing Grieg's sweepingly dramatic Piano Concerto. Sir Simon Rattle said: "There is something special with Joaquin Achucarro. Very few musicians can extract this kind of sound from the piano," while Zubin Mehta remarked, "I have only heard this sound from Rubinstein." This not-to-be-missed Symphony debut by one of today's most talented pianists is part of a program that includes selections from Grieg's ever-popular "Peer Gynt," fairy-tale music from Stravinsky's iconic "Firebird" ballet, and a magical, mystical concerto by Rautavaara infused with bird songs. On the podium is the highly acclaimed, dynamic young Norwegian guest conductor, Rune Bergmann.

The Ivoryton Playhouse is celebrating 25 years of laughter and drama, new shingles and seats, and more and more music and romance and applause than ever before. This year marks the 25th year of Artistic Director, Jacqui Hubbard's involvement with The Ivoryton Playhouse. The Old Globe today announced the first production of its 2017 Summer Season: Guys and Dolls, a musical fable of Broadway. Based on the stories and characters by Damon Runyon, with music and lyrics by Frank Loesser and book by Jo Swerling and Abe Burrows, Guys and Dolls will be directed and choreographed by Josh Rhodes, returning to the Globe after the great successes of Ken Ludwig's Baskerville: A Sherlock Holmes Mystery, which he directed, and Bright Star, which he choreographed.

Tickets are now on sale for American Composers Orchestra's (ACO) 40th Anniversary Season, under the leadership of Artistic Director Derek Bermel and Music Director George Manahan. This season includes eight world premieres by a diverse set of composers performed by ACO at Carnegie Hall and Symphony Space, and continues the orchestra's commitment to serve as a catalyst for the creation of new orchestral music, providing unprecedented opportunities for American composers to create new work and for audiences to discover it. With thousands of fans and pop culture enthusiasts in Memphis for Elvis Week celebrating the life and career of the King of Rock 'n' Roll at Graceland, music fans and collectors in Memphis and around the world participated on site and online in hopes of going home with a piece of Elvis history at the fifth 'Auction at Graceland,' which brought over $730,000 today. Presented by Graceland Auctions, the auction was held at the Graceland Archive Studio. All of the items in the auction were from third-party collectors and none of the items included in the auction came from the treasured Graceland Archives.
