Dance/USA, the national service organization for professional dance, recently announced that Dance/USA Fellowships to Artists (DFA) has awarded $1,000,525 in funding to 31 dance artists addressing social change through their work. Laurel Lawson, an Atlanta, GA-based disability arts leader is among the inaugural Dance/USA Artist Fellows.

One of the nation's most adventurous opera companies, Odyssey Opera, presents the fully staged production of La belle Hélène (The Beautiful Helen) by Jacques Offenbach with libretto by Henri Meilhac and Ludovic Halévy. This final performance of Odyssey Opera's sixth season is the last of three works performed in 2019 inspired by one of the most enigmatic figures in ancient history, Helen of Troy. Directed by Frank Kelley, this performance will be sung in English with mezzo-soprano Ginger Costa-Jackson (Met Opera, San Francisco Opera) playing the lead role of Helen of Troy, and orchestra and chorus conducted by Gil Rose.

His newest play, Kill Move Paradise, is a new take the Elysium of Greek antiquity. Inspired by recent events, the play is an expressionistic buzz saw through the contemporary myth that 'all lives matter.

The Portland Stage Studio Series presents a workshop of Death Wings by Portland Stage Affiliate Artist Bess Welden on Thursday May 23 and Friday May 24 at 7pm in the Studio Theater at Portland Stage. The Studio Series is presented by the Affiliate Artists, and hosted by Portland Stage in the Studio Theater. Studio Series Workshops are readings of new plays, rehearsed with actors over one or more days, and developed with the playwright.

Magic Theatre (Loretta Greco, Artistic Director and Kevin Nelson, General Manager) announced today the complete cast and creative team for the 10th Anniversary Legacy Revival of Luis Alfaro's Oedipus el Rey, the Company's final production of the 2018-2019 season. Oedipus el Rey will be directed by Loretta Greco, who also directed Magic Theatre's World Premiere of Oedipus el Rey in 2010. Previews begin on Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at Magic Theatre's Fort Mason location (Fort Mason, 2 Marina Blvd., Building D, 3rd Floor, San Francisco, CA 94123), with a press opening on Wednesday, June 5, 2019 at 8:00 p.m. Tickets range from $15 - $75 and are on-sale now at MagicTheatre.org.

Stephen Fry - one of the world's greatest storytellers - will embark on his first UK tour for nearly 40 years this summer in Mythos: A Trilogy - Gods. Heroes. Men. Opening at the Edinburgh International Festival on 19 August, this trilogy of plays will see one of the country's most loved national treasures telling some of the world's greatest stories about Greek Gods, Heroes and Men whose gripping tales still echo today. The tour continues across the UK until 23 September in Gateshead.

Los Angeles-based musican Geographer will tour North America this spring with special guest Manatee Commune. The tour kicks off on May 17 and includes shows in Los Angeles, San Diego, Las Vegas, Chicago, Washington, D.C, New York, Atlanta and more. All upcoming shows are listed below. In anticipation of upcoming tour Geographer shared the official video for 'Summer Of My Discontentment' from the recently released New Jersey EP with The Bay Bridged. The video which was directed by Patrick Mattes can also be viewed at YouTube. About the video Mattes says, 'Geographer's 'Summer Of My Discontentment' is a music video about the moments in between. This video was shot over the course of a day and a half with four friends running around greater Los Angeles. We wanted this video to be an organic representation of adolescence, growing up, and the moments that help define us as human beings. To keep the filming aspect of this video as organic as possible we shot everything with a documentary style. Allowing the friends to exist in a space and capturing moments that made them unique.'
