HARMONY, ASSASSINS & More Win 2022 Off Broadway Alliance Awards

The Off Broadway Alliance, an organization of Off-Broadway producers, theaters, general managers, press agents, and marketing professionals, today announced the winners of the 11th Annual Off-Broadway Alliance Awards, honoring commercial and not-for-profit productions that opened Off Broadway during the 2021-2022 season.

AS ALWAYS, JIMMY STEWART Comes to Theatre West on On July 9th and 10th

As Always, Jimmy Stewart is set to play at Theatre West on Saturday, July 9th at 8pm and Sunday, July 10th at 3pm. Theatre West is located at 3333 Cahuenga Blvd. West, in Los Angeles, CA 90068. The show is written by Steve Nevil and Ted Snyder, directed by Ted Snyder, and produced by Dina Morrone for Theatre West. Tickets are $35 in advance or $40 at the door. Group ticket rates for parties of 15 or more are $30 per person. For tickets, call the box office at (323) 851-7977 or visit http://theatrewest.org. The show runs for 85 minutes and is suggested for audiences aged 12 to adult.

New Line Theatre Announces 31st Season

New Line Theatre, “the bad boy of musical theatre,” has announced its 31st season of adult, alternative musical theatre, including the wild musical comedy SOMETHING ROTTEN, running Sept. 22-Oct. 15, 2022; followed by the electrifying concept musical, NINE, based on Federico Fellini's iconic film 8 1/2, running March 2-25, 2023; and the season closes with one of the great Stephen Sondheim's earliest works, the hilarious farce, A FUNNY THING HAPPENED ON THE WAY TO THE FORUM, based on the Roman comedies of Plautus, running June 1-24, 2023.

San Francisco Playhouse Announces Cast For FOLLIES Opening June 30

San Francisco Playhouse announced casting for Follies by James Goldman and Stephen Sondheim. The musical will run on the San Francisco Playhouse Mainstage from June 30 through September 10, 2022. Bill English will direct, with music direction by Dave Dobrusky and choreography by Nicole Helfer. This marks the first fully staged professional production of Follies in San Francisco.

Pasadena Playhouse Announces 2022/2023 Season Featuring Six-Month Sondheim Celebration

Very early on a morning in June 2021, in the hills of northwest Connecticut, a unique ensemble of musicians gathered in the hayloft of a barn to perform a special livestream concert in celebration of the summer solstice. The album of this music, entitled Concert in the Barn, is by the seven-time Grammy-winning Paul Winter Consort.

Brand New Karen Dalton Collection 'Shuckin' Sugar' to Be Released Via Delmore Recordings

Musical archaeologist and record label Delmore Recording Society is honored to announce an all-new collection, Shuckin' Sugar, from legendary blues and folk singer Karen Dalton. Available April 23rd on vinyl as a Record Store Day exclusive, followed by a wide release in CD and digital formats on May 6th, Shuckin' Sugar is a riveting 12-track live set recorded in 1963-1964, featuring the earliest known duets of Dalton (with then-husband, guitarist, and songwriter Richard Tucker) and seven never-before-heard solo performances. The collection is accompanied by an 8-page (LP)/24-page (CD) booklet featuring a treasure trove of newly discovered unseen and rare photos, as well as newspaper clippings, artwork by Dalton, and a heartfelt 6,000-word essay by veteran UK journalist and author Kris Needs.
