Celebrating 40 years of light underground with a landmark anniversary season, Undermain Theatre will present its 40th season of cutting edge performance in September. Our season, from the fall of 2023 to the summer of 2024, will be a season of unlimited boundaries and will find us working both with long time collaborators as well as artists and voices new to the Undermain.

MPAC will present blues great Kenny Wayne Shepherd and Broadway and film favorite Leslie Odom, Jr. in March!

One Year Lease Theater Company will present the world premiere of Ellen McLaughlin's KISSING THE FLOOR, directed by Ianthe Demos, with movement direction by Natalie Lomonte, running Off-Broadway February 23 - March 12, 2023 in a limited engagement at Theatre Row.

From Oct 28 through Nov 3 BAM presents Metamorphosis: The Films of Shinya Tsukamoto. An underground filmmaker who got his start in Japan’s punk super-8 scene in the 80s, Tsukamoto embraces the maggots, memory loss, and severed heads of genre filmmaking with formally striking works that range from the bloody to the bizarre while grappling with the frailty of the human body under the stress of technofuturism and late capitalism.

This week I saw productions of two decades-old musicals, each written by one of theatre's great composer/lyricists, which, in their original productions, ran a combined total of nine performances on Broadway.
