La Jolla Playhouse has announced the first four productions of its 2022/2023 season. The season will also include a re-imagined classic to be co-directed by Tony Award winner Christopher Ashley, the Rich Family Artistic Director of La Jolla Playhouse, and Helen Hayes Award winner Will Davis, as well as a new musical.

The Artists' Legacy Foundation has announced that Nancy Rubins (b. 1952)-celebrated for her innovative sculptural practice-is the recipient of its 2021 Artist Award. ELIZABETH IRELAND McCANN, the iconoclastic Broadway producer who won nine Tony Awards during a 60-year career in theater, died after a bout with cancer on Thursday, Sept. 9, 2021 at Calvary Hospital in the Bronx, according to her longtime associate and friend, Kristen Luciani.  She was 90 years old.

Mirvish Productions mourns the passing of Peter Smith, Canada's leading theatre architect of both new performance spaces and the restoration of heritage theatres. He designed the Princess of Wales Theatre in 1993 and most recently consulted on the remodelling and restoration of the Royal Alexandra Theatre in 2016. He died on July 7, 2021 in Toronto. He was 85 years old.

City Theatre Company, Pittsburgh’s home for contemporary plays, has announced the details of the theatre’s 47th season of new works, taking place in-person beginning in September 2021. We look back at a seismic career and select five productions for the ages.

The 2022 inductees for Hollywood's iconic Walk of Fame have been announced and among this year's star recipients are two-time Tony Award winner Patti LuPone and late pop culture icon and Broadway playwright, Carrie Fisher. 

The shows are presented thanks to a partnership between MV Concert Series and The Loft. The Loft will undergo a six-figure renovation of the sound and lighting systems funded by the Martha’s Vineyard Concert Series, bringing a theatre experience to one of Oak Bluffs’ best hangouts. Sound engineers will map out the room and create a system specifically designed to bring professional concerts to the Loft. While much of the interior will look the same, the venue will have a new professional sound that transforms the entire experience.

On July 1, 2021 Birdland will open its doors to the public for the first time since March 2020. To mark the grand reopening, Birdland is bringing back 1949 prices as a thank you to returning patrons.
