What did our critic think of COWBOY BOB at ALLEY THEATRE? Despite any narrative difficulties, COWBOY BOB is still something to see. It’s a celebration of what a daring musical should feel like. It asks tough questions, it presents us with gorgeous ballads, and it shows off truly Texan stage design that feels authentic. Like the real life Peggy Tallas, it’s a brave piece that moves in bold directions.

WPalm Canyon Theatre (PCT) and Del Shores have a long, strong bond with each other. His sidewalk star is even strategically placed in front of the theatre. It seems that every year PCT produces one of his plays, frequently Sordid Lives. This year they are presenting Daddy’s Dyin’, Who’s Got the Will?, his second play which was first produced in 1990. I’ve known the title for years – it’s the sort of title you don’t soon forget – but this is the first time I have seen it produced. I personally think it is a better structured play than the more popular Sordid Lives, and the opening night audience at PCT howled with laughter from the very first entrance.hat did our critic think of DADDY'S DYIN', WHO'S GOT THE WILL? at Palm Canyon Theatre?

Widely viewed as the Queen of house music, Crystal Waters has shown no signs of slowing down since her breakthrough in 1991 - recently praised by Washington Post as an artist who helped “bring house music to the masses”. Since her start, she's landed thirteen Billboard #1s, continues to be one of the most sampled and covered artists (see Coldplay's cover here), and every new song she releases finds its way into the sets of today's most iconic DJs.

I did not attend Foreword Theater’s Airness on Saturday with any intention to review the show. In fact, I said to my partner, “It will be nice to just see theater again without it being my job.” Yet here we are. The reason for the review is simple. It's not that PRETTY WOMAN THE MUSICAL is necessarily worthy of a terribly poor review, but it's not worthy of a good one either. Does it get the job done? Is it a musical? Was it executed well? Is the talent up to the task? Yes, to all these. But that's about where the good work ends. There's well directed talent up there on stage, but the book and undistinguished lyrics aren't a big help.
