We talk with Sandy Cox about Anything Goes at TexARTS. Founded in 2005, it has produced 100s of critically acclaimed professional musicals and plays as well as youth theater.  TexARTS Academy has educated 1000s of students, many of whom have gone on to careers in the arts and can be seen on International tours, on cruise ships, in LA, on Broadway and at esteemed educational institutions both on stage and behind the scenes.

'...why not produce more plays with inclusion of older women in roles and older people in the story line? Instead the majority of theatres in my community constantly hit “replay” of plays done over and over and are always producing musicals again and again like worn out shoes.'

Dear Readers, we’re about to enter the realm of one of my favorite shows, “Once on This Island”, currently playing at Village Theatre. This gem of a show is, sadly, not often produced. In fact, I’ve only seen it twice, once on Broadway in 2017, and once in 2005, again from Village Theatre. Both of those productions hold very special places in my memory as being stellar shows. I tell you this for one reason and one reason only, I am very picky when it comes to this show.

Today’s subject Nora Palka is currently living her theatre life at Signature Theatre playing Jeanie in their current production of Hair. The production runs through July seventh in the MAX. Hair is a homecoming for Nora to be sure. She grew up in the DC area and as you will read, credits Signature with her wanting to become a professional performer.
