Connecticut Repertory Theatre begins the final show of the 2018 Nutmeg Summer Series: 'Jesus Christ Superstar', the iconic rock opera based on the last week of Jesus' life. CRT Nutmeg Summer Series Artistic Director Terrence Mann directs, Christopher d'Amboise choreographs. 'Jesus Christ Superstar' stars Alex Prakken (Jesus), Ryan Vona (Judas) and Jonathan Cobrda (Pontius Pilate).

Andrew Lloyd Webber's smash hit School of Rock - The Musical, announced today that the show will play its final Broadway performance at the Winter Garden Theatre on January 20, 2019. By that date, the show will have run for more than 3 years, playing 1,307 performances and 31 previews. The production recouped its entire Broadway investment in May of 2017.

This morning, Samira Wiley ('The Handmaid's Tale,' 'Orange Is the New Black') and Ryan Eggold ('New Amsterdam,' 'BlackKklansman') announced the nominations for the 70TH PRIMETIME EMMY AWARDS from the WOLFTheatre at the Television Academy's Saban Media Center.

She attempts to civilize and marry off her six rowdy brothers-in-law, but her plan goes comically wrong. Featuring high-kicking dance numbers, heartfelt romance and soaring songs. Performances of Seven Brides for Seven Brothers are Tuesday, June 26 through Sunday, July 1 at the Wells Fargo Pavilion.

In an age where televised live events are becoming more and more popular, rules need to be changed. The Emmys are finally sorting this out, according to Variety. The awards organization has split the special class categories into variety special (live) and variety special (pre-recorded).

Long Island's newest theatrical venue The Argyle Theatre (Evan Pappas, Artistic Director) presents the Tony Award winning hit Broadway musical Hairspray with book by Marc O'Donnell and Thomas Meehan, music by Marc Shaiman, and lyrics by Scott Wittman and Marc Shaiman at The Argyle Theatre (34 West Main Street, Babylon, Long Island).  Performances are set to begin Thursday, July 12, 2018 for a limited run through Sunday, August 26, 2018. 

The Theatre Group at SBCC will start the season July 11-28, 2018 in the Garvin Theatre with the musical, GREASE.  Book, lyrics and music by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey.

According to Deadline, Ben Daniels has joined the cast of Netflix's “The Crown” for its third season, playing the husband of Princess Margaret, Antony Armstrong-Jones.

Venice Theatre is once again turning its Pinkerton Theatre into Pinky's Cabaret for the sixth annual Summer Cabaret Festival with 20 different productions featuring some of the best cabaret acts in the state of Florida. Performances are July 13-Aug. 26 at 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday, with some late night performances. Tickets are $20. Venice Theatre is located at 140 W. According to TV Live, Apple has given a straight-to-series, 10-episode order to the half-hour dramedy Little Voice, featuring original music Sara Bareilles.

This Sunday's 72nd annual Tony Awards will be hosted by Sara Bareilles and Josh Groban. Bareilles starred in 'Waitress' on Broadway and was nominated for a Tony for its score in 2016, and Groban earned a Tony nomination last year for his role in 'Natasha, Pierre, and the Great Comet of 1812.' They join 'CBS This Morning' with what to expect from this year's awards ceremony. Check out the video below! 

For this year's showcase on June 3, 25 schools and 42 high school performers are nominated. Among the nomination categories are Outstanding Musical, Outstanding Actor, Outstanding Actress, Outstanding Supporting Performer, Outstanding Director, Outstanding Musical Director, Outstanding Choreographer, Outstanding Orchestra, Outstanding Technical Achievement and additional special acknowledgement awards. Winners in the Best Actor and Actress category are performing in the Broadway Star of the Future Award Showcase at the Straz Center this Sunday in Ferguson Hall.

Mathew Horne (Gavin & Stacey, The Catherine Tate Show) stars as Raymond Babbit opposite Ed Speleers (Downton Abbey, Wolf Hall) as Charlie Babbit. RAIN MAN opens at Windsor Theatre Royal on 21 August, before embarking on a UK tour to Milton Keynes, Cardiff, Eastbourne, Southend, Edinburgh, Cambridge, Brighton, Guildford, Leeds, Richmond, Derby and Northampton. Further dates and casting to be announced in due course.
