In the mid-seventies, Adam Ant joined the band Bazooka Joe as a bassist; they played pubs and colleges around London. On one decisive night in November 1975, Adam saw The Sex Pistols playing their first-ever show, supporting Bazooka Joe. The explosive punk band inspired Adam to start something new.

The original line-up consisted of: Singer/Songwriter/Musician Annette Zilinskas (The Bangles, The Ringling Sisters, Medicine), Drummer Hermann Senac (Guilty Hearts, Crowbar Salvation), and Bass Player Ron Botelho (Groovy Rednecks).  The current line-up includes veteran drummer Dave Frappier, who has been with the band since 1994.

 The Blues Foundation has announced the elections of a new Board of Directors and officers. Scott Fitzke, whose tenure as Chairman of the Board is ending due to term limits, will be succeeded by Terika Dean, who served as Vice Chairman under Fitzke.

From November 17 through 22, BAM presents the Masc film series. Spotlighting the rich stories and courageous lives of trans men, butch lesbians, and gender-nonconforming heroes, this collection—curated by writer-archivist-filmmaker Jenni Olson and critic Caden Mark Gardner—journeys through nearly four decades of cinema history in search of authentic, complex representations of masculine identity as it exists outside the realm of cisgender men.

What did our critic think of THE ISLAND at Ensemble? Native South Euclid resident and Brush High School grad, Dr. Alan Wieder, is on a quest “to stem the tide of forgetfulness.”  The oral historian, who has been on the faculties of both South Africa’s University of Western Cape and Stellenbosch University, is concerned that “few young South Africans know of the contributions or the sensibilities regarding the social justice and the revolution against class disparity and racism in the world.”
