Galerie Gmurzynska has announced the opening of 'LOVE is in the Air' a career-spanning exhibition of notable and rarely seen works by Robert Indiana, on Tuesday March 10th. ICON, an exhibition that celebrates Karen Kain's 50th anniversary with The National Ballet of Canada, will be showcased at Campbell House Museum in Toronto from Sunday, March 8, 2020 to the end of April. The exhibit will explore Ms. Kain's influence as an artist, leader and icon within the ballet world and the arts in general in Canada and around the globe.

The Institute of Contemporary Art (ICA Miami) presents the first U.S. museum retrospective for legendary American artist Allan McCollum (b. 1944), opening on March 26. Allan McCollum: Works Since 1969 traces the artist's iconoclastic philosophy on the originality, value, and context of art.

The name Roger Duvoisin is familiar to Zimmerli audiences: the museum's gallery dedicated to its collection of original children's book illustrations is named in his honor, more than half of that collection consists of Duvoisin's artwork, and numerous exhibitions have celebrated this beloved author and illustrator. Now, Mood Books: The Children's Stories of Alvin Tresselt and Roger Duvoisin delves into one of the most important aspects of his career, a partnership with author Alvin Tresselt that spanned three decades and resulted in 18 books. The exhibition, opening March 14 at the Zimmerli Art Museum at Rutgers, features more than 30 original watercolor and gouache illustrations from four of their collaborations: White Snow, Bright Snow, Hide and Seek Fog, It's Time Now!, and What Did You Leave Behind?, all published by Lothrop, Lee & Shepard in New York. The images capture an array of feelings evoked by common experiences that tend to stick with us throughout life in very uncommon ways.

On April 4th, The Museum at Bethel Woods, located at the site of the 1969 Woodstock festival, will open for the 2020 season with the Special Exhibit Lights, Color, Fashion: Psychedelic Posters and Patterns of 1960s San Francisco. This exhibit showcases a phenomenal ensemble of San Francisco rock posters and fashion from the kaleidoscopic years of 1964 to 1972, gathered by collector Gary Westford.

Scottsdale Arts Festival celebrates its 50th anniversary March 13-15, 2020 and is an annual weekend-long celebration of creativity. The Festival attracts nearly 20,000 loyal visitors annually, where guests enjoy the best in visual, culinary, cultural and performing arts throughout the newly renovated 20-acre Scottsdale Civic Center Park. Dialogues a?" Ilya Kabakov and Viktor Pivovarov: Stories About Ourselves, which delves into one of the hallmarks of unofficial Soviet art from the height of the Cold War, has been extended through May 17, 2020 at the Zimmerli Art Museum at Rutgers. In addition, the exhibition is spotlighted during Art After Hours: First Tuesdays on February 4, from 5 to 9 p.m. The evening includes a tour led by guest curator Ksenia Nouril, a screening of the film Ilya and Emilia Kabakov: Enter Here, and live music by Central New Jersey musician and producer Brandon Broderick. Art After Hours is free and open to the public.

I admit this is an absolutely personal, totally one-sided view of what gave one man opera thrills last year and what I will look back on with delight. Some are old works, some are new, some are individual performers, some are ensembles, some are complete productions, some are merely the highlight of an evening, most are domestic, a few are foreign. In any case, as the new decade begins, I recall that these are the vocal highlights that made my heart beat a little faster and made me look forward to the year ahead.

The Museum of Contemporary Art Toronto (MOCA) today shared details of its exhibitions programme for the first part of 2020, featuring new commissions by Carlos Bunga, Shelagh Keeley, and Megan Rooney. An installation by Sarah Sze launches 'The City Is a Collection,' a new exhibition series presenting major contemporary artworks from private art holdings within the Toronto community.

Pioneer Theatre Company presents the Loge Gallery show Art - A Love Affair by the Intermountain Society of Artists (ISA). The exhibit will include painted artwork from several artists from Utah, all associated with ISA. It will be on display during the production of Mary Stuart.

 A new exhibition invites visitors to delve into one of the hallmarks of unofficial Soviet art from the height of the Cold War. Dialogues a?" Ilya Kabakov and Viktor Pivovarov: Stories About Ourselves, which opens at the Zimmerli Art Museum at Rutgers on November 30, focuses on the two artists' work created in the format of the album: an innovative genre of visual art popularized in the 1970s by conceptual artists in Moscow. Drawn from the museum's Norton and Nancy Dodge Collection of Nonconformist Art from the Soviet Union, the exhibition provides a rare opportunity to view several albums in their entirety. With loose pages of delicately colored images, often complemented by handwritten texts, an album is simultaneously a drawing and a novel, an installation and a performance.

Adelaide Cool: The abstract art of David and John Dallwitz, a new display celebrating fifty years since a breakthrough exhibition in Australian hard-edge painting, opens at the Art Gallery of South Australia this weekend.

The Rose Art Museum has selected Caroline Woolard (American, b. 1984) as this year's 2019-2020 Ruth Ann and Nathan Perlmutter Artist-in-Residence. The Perlmutter Award recognizes extraordinary young talent and is part of the Rose's longstanding tradition of promoting the work of emerging artists. The year-long residency at the museum is also an opportunity to provide Brandeis University students and faculty with direct access to powerful contemporary art and ideas. In addition, Woolard is the Rose Art Museum's inaugural INDEX artist. In her work at the Rose, Woolard takes the meeting as a site for artistic and social intervention by combining the formal language of her sculptural practice with tools and techniques used for group facilitation.

The Frist Art Museum presents Eric Carle's Picture Books: Celebrating 50 Years of a?oeThe Very Hungry Caterpillar,a?? an exhibition of more than one hundred original artworks by one of the most acclaimed and beloved illustrators of our time. Drawn from the Collection of Eric and Barbara Carle and organized by The Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art in Amherst, Massachusetts, the exhibition will be on display from October 18, 2019, through February 23, 2020.

Folger Theatre opens the 2019/20 season with 1 Henry IV, Shakespeare's richly layered coming-of-age tale of power, rebellion, honor, and redemption. The production is directed by Rosa Joshi (co-founder of Seattle's upstart crow collective theater company in Seattle; Henry V and As You Like It at Oregon Shakespeare Festival), who makes her DC directorial debut at the Folger.
