Thousands of people attended the Garden State Film Festival's much-anticipated homecoming in Asbury Park March 22-25, 2018. The spectacular four-day weekend event welcomed over 26,000 celebrities, honorees, film industry execs and movie fans to multiple iconic venues throughout Asbury Park. The Festival included networking opportunities, industry workshops, informative panel discussions, open talent casting call, live screenplay reading, star-studded red carpet gala and entertaining parties - all in addition to the screenings of 246 films from 22 countries around the world. The weekend culminated with the 2018 Garden State Film Festival Awards Gala Dinner event on Sunday evening, where this year's honorees were recognized and Festival winners were announced.

Rafael Payare's highly anticipated inaugural concerts as San Diego Symphony's Music Director Designate take place as part of the annual January Festival. It will mark his only Jacobs Masterworks appearance this season and will feature acclaimed cellist Alisa Weilerstein and the orchestra's first-ever performance of Benjamin Britten's Symphony for Cello and Orchestra. He will also perform in a special Discovery Night concert on January 10, with all funds from this concert going to support the San Diego Symphony's Learning and Community Engagement programs.

The Sally & Don Lucas Artists Program at Montalvo Arts Center continues its Open Access series with Open Studios at the Lucas Artists Program, where artists invite the public to visit their studios and to explore their current work and creative process. Showcasing the unique range of art produced by Lucas Artist Fellows, this year's Open Studios event will include culinary artist Andrea Blum, composer/musician Juan Felipe Waller, poet Monica Sok, playwright Preston Lane, filmmaker T. Kim-Trang Tran, and visual artist Cassils. Delicious Mexican food and beverages-including beer and wine-will be available for purchase by guests.
