Earning five Tony Award® nominations this year for the revival, Michael Frayn's play within a play is a hilarious send-up of the making of a stage production.  An overly ambitious director and his troupe of journeyman actors and crew are putting together a silly, bawdy comedy titled, Nothing On - a single-set farce in which lovers frolic, doors slam, clothes are tossed away, and embarrassing hi-jinx ensue.

The events, years in the past, emotionally ravaged the daughter; disturbed the upbringing of the younger son, a child when the events happened; opened a schism between the mother and her sister; and shattered the orderly lives of the parents, causing their ostracism from an intimate circle of friends, which included President and Mrs. Reagan.  The play is powerful, passionate and superbly crafted.

'Though the question is never asked directly by the characters, the play demands the audience to answer, 'Why is art important?' She continued, 'Utpadel continues, 'And really, why is it? Art isn't always a pretty thing - this play proves it. There is unbelievable violence, hard language, and great tragedy in this play. Luke Gomez, the playwright, paints a world in which hope is far past a dying ember and has instead already faded to ash. No character is truly a good person. Why is showing the ugliness of human nature so important? Why, when the world we live in already has so much darkness?'
