Peninsula Players Theatre is pleased to announce it was awarded a grant from the Wisconsin Arts Board (WAB) through their Creation & Presentation program. Funds from the grant will support the Peninsula Players continued development and presentation of outstanding theatrical productions and community programs as the theater prepares for its 84th season in 2019.

Oscar-qualifying New York Int'l Children's Film Festival announced the complete short film lineup for its 2019 event, which runs February 22-March 17 at theaters throughout New York: IFC Center, Scandinavia House, Quad Cinemas, SVA Theatre, Cinépolis Chelsea, Alamo Drafthouse and the Museum of the Moving Image. Established in 1997, the acclaimed Festival is the nation's largest for children and teens and will present new animated, live action, documentary and experimental shorts and features from 37 countries. The Majestic Theatre announced its line-up of shows for the 2019-2020 North Park Lexus Broadway in San Antonio Season. Pop-culture phenomenon DEAR EVAN HANSEN and Disney's ALADDIN anchor the season with eight performances of DEAR EVAN HANSEN, December 17-22, 2019, and a three-week run of ALADDIN, March 25 April 12, 2020. Ashley Wheater, The Mary B. Galvin Artistic Director of The Joffrey Ballet, proudly announces an impressive 2019-2020 season featuring a Chicago premiere from Northern Ballet Artistic Director Cathy Marston, along with a Chicago premiere from Tony Award-winning choreographer and New York City Ballet Resident Choreographer Justin Peck, plus the return of an audience favorite by choreographer Yuri Possokhov, and Christopher Wheeldon's holiday classic The Nutcracker. The Joffrey Ballet begins its 64th season with Marston's modern re-telling of Jane Eyre, October 16-27, 2019, followed by Wheeldon's magical holiday classic The Nutcracker, November 30-December 29, 2019. For its winter engagement, the Joffrey presents a mixed repertory program that includes the Chicago premiere of Peck's acclaimed The Times Are Racing, the Chicago premieres of Mono Lisa and The Sofa by Israeli choreographer Itzik Galili, Wheeldon's Commedia, and Bliss!, a new work from Stephanie Martinez, winner of the Joffrey's 2015 Winning Works choreographic competition, February 12-23, 2020. Closing the season is the return of Possokhov's Don Quixote, April 22- May 3, 2020, which received its world premiere in Chicago in 2011.

Carnegie Hall today announced that 15-time Grammy Award-winning banjoist Bela Fleck, renowned bassist Edgar Meyer, and multi-award winning Gaelic singer Julie Fowlis will join the bill for Live from Here with Chris Thile on Saturday, March 9 at 5:45 p.m., in Stern Auditorium/ Perelman Stage. Opening the Migrations: The Making of America festival at Carnegie Hall, Chris Thile leads an evening that explores the ways in which Scots and Irish traditions helped shape and continue to influence American folk music today.

She loves the attention being a hero provides her so she wrote a solo show about all the containers of pee she had to carry on the subway. I'm Just Kidneying takes a whimsical look into the process of living kidney donation and pokes holes into the idea of what it takes to be "hero material."

Celebrating its 10th edition this year, Boston Calling unveils a lineup of epic proportions - from music to comedy to dance. The internationally acclaimed and locally grown music festival takes place Memorial Day weekend, May 24 - 26, 2019 at the Harvard Athletic Complex in Allston, MA (65 North Harvard Street, Boston). Headlined by Twenty One Pilots, Travis Scott, and Tame Impala, Boston Calling 2019 will present more than 55 performances from musicians, bands, and comedians across its four stages. This year, the festival's indoor arena will also showcase an all-star lineup of comedy, headlined by Michael Che, Jenny Slate, and Fred Armisen. Overall, the lineup boasts seven 2019 Grammy nominees including Anderson .Paak, Janelle Monae, and Brandi Carlile, who is nominated for six awards. In a unique collaboration, the festival will also bring Boston Ballet, one of the world's most renowned dance companies, to the festival.

Australian comedian, writer, poet, playwright, political philosopher, rapper and radio announcer James Donald Forbes McCann has picked up no less than three awards at the 2018 Adelaide Comedy awards. Other winners included Amos Gill, Fiona O'Loughlin, and Tom Gleeson. McCann was the only comedian to pick up more than a single award on the night.
