The Oratorio Society of New York, led by Music Director Kent Tritle, has revealed its 2023-2024 season with three concerts in Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage at Carnegie Hall and one at St. Bartholomew's Church.

The Oratorio Society of New York, led by Music Director Kent Tritle, presents the 46th Lyndon Woodside Oratorio-Solo Competition Finals Concert at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall on Saturday, April 15, 2023 at 1:30pm. The Solo Competition was created in 1977 to encourage the art of oratorio singing and to give young singers an opportunity to advance their careers.

The Oratorio Society of New York, led by Music Director Kent Tritle, concludes its 2022-23 season with a performance of J.S. Bach's Mass in B minor on Monday, May 8, 2023 at 8:00 p.m. at Carnegie Hall's Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage.

Griffin Theatre Company has announced casting for its Midwest premiere of Marys Seacole by Pulitzer Prize winner Jackie Sibblies Drury, directed by Jerrell L. Henderson and Hannah Todd. Launching Griffin’s 33rd season, Marys Seacole will play October 1 – November 6, 2022 on Raven Theatre’s Schwartz Stage.

Two world premieres – A Nation of Others, a new oratorio for six soloists, chorus and orchestra by Paul Moravec and Mark Campbell with the Oratorio Society of New York at Carnegie Hall that brings to life one day of immigrants’ arrival at Ellis Island in 1921 (November 15, 2022); and a setting of the Stabat Mater for organ, soloists, chorus, and orchestra by David Briggs at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine (March 8, 2023) – are highlights of the 2022-23 season of Kent Tritle.

McCarter continues the season with a jam-packed lineup of music, theater, dance, and family programming.

A surveyor ponders the meaning of memory and monuments. A young girl scout seeks a place for herself in history. A Black father and son find themselves on opposite sides of a same-sex marriage rally. And the vision of 22-year-old Asian American undergraduate Maya Lin is the catalyst for a reappraisal of the Vietnam War.

Jazz at Lincoln Center's Dizzy's Club will continue its season of in-person performances in January and February 2022, presenting a diverse lineup that pays tribute to jazz greats, showcases rising stars on the scene, and welcomes award-winning artists whose work runs the gamut of jazz styles and traditions.

Pal Joey, the Rodgers and Hart-John O’Hara classic musical, has been revised in a brand-new production that will be heading to Broadway in the 2022-2023 season.

On May 25, 2021 at 5pm Pacific / 8pm Eastern in a free virtual stream, a group of arts institutions across the nation will premiere the short film 'They Still Want To Kill Us', an aria by composer and activist Daniel Bernard Roumain (DBR), performed by mezzo-soprano J’Nai Bridges, and directed by filmmaker Yoram Savion.

The program will include the premiere of the piece by Savion, a discussion with DBR and Bridges, moderated by Jamilla Deria and a statement by Damario Solomon-Simmons of the Justice for Greenwood Foundation. 

The Harlem Chamber Players announce Pity These Ashes: Tulsa 1921-2021, an online concert program on Juneteenth, to be held on June 19, 2021 at 7:00 PM, in partnership with The Greene Space at WQXR and WNYC, Harlem Stage, and the Harlem School of the Arts.

The spirit of innovation is alive in Kaufman Music Center's Winter/Spring online concert season, offering a wide variety of creative programs. MPTF (Motion Picture & Television Fund) announced today that Matt Bomer, Jeff Bridges, Regina Hicks, Norman Lear, Joel McHale, Katelyn Ohashi, Billy Ray, and Jeff Ross will join the star-studded line-up of talent participating in 'We All Play Our Part: A Benefit for MPTF'.

Kent Tritle begins the new decade with his first organ recital at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in two years, Bach's St. John Passion with the Cathedral Choir, and both a new edition of Brahms's A German Requiem and the world premiere of A Nation of Others, an oratorio about Ellis Island with music by Paul Moravec and libretto by Mark Campbell, with the Oratorio Society of New York.

Tableau D'Hôte Theatre will be presenting the World Premiere of Jesse Stong's Winter's Daughter, directed by Emma Tibaldo (Okinum, Productions Onishko), at the Segal Centre for Performing Arts from November 27th to December 8th, 2019. Based on the secret family history of local celebrity barber Gino Chiarella, Winter's Daughter takes us to Southern Italy in 1921, in the aftermath of World War One where a couple copes with tremendous trauma and loss while wrestling with how to care for a Jewish child suddenly abandoned in their care.
