As it approaches its 5th anniversary, Aladdin welcomes three new principal cast members to the company. Original Australian star Ainsley Melham has taken over the title role, marking his Broadway and North American theatrical debut. Broadway veteran Michael James Scott (Something Rotten!; The Book of Mormon; Tarzan), an original Broadway company member who originated the role of Genie in Australia and comes directly from playing it on the North American tour, has assumed the role of Genie. And as part of the show's trio of Aladdin's sidekicks, Mike Longo (Beautiful, Aladdin North American tour) stepped into the role of Kassim.

It's time to get off of the magic carpet! Telly Leung, who stepped into the title role in Aladdin last June, has just announced that he will depart the production early next year.

It doesn't get much more perfect that spending an Arabian night in this theatre to see a beloved story that is also set in the magical and mystical land of the Far East. Between the scenery of the theatre and the magic provided by the performance, you'll have a hard time distinguishing if you're in Atlanta or Agrabah when seeing Disney's ALADDIN at The Fox Theatre.

Jacobs originated the role in the Australian production in 2016 and is the sister of original Broadway star Adam Jacobs, currently leading the North American tour in the title role. Aladdin the 1992 Disney animated feature about a protagonist who strives to overcome great obstacles and fulfill a dream is the magic formula that drives most Hollywood blockbusters. For over 20 years this action-packed love story has delighted audiences with colorful fantasy and lofty fun, earning two Oscars, four Grammys including Alan Menken and Tim Rice's Song Of The Year A Whole New World, and iconic melodies and vocal performances, most notably by the late, great Robin Williams who voiced the Genie.

On Monday, January 8, Theater People podcast welcome's back Broadway favorite Telly Leung. For the episode, Leung discusses recently winning the title role in Disney's ALADDIN on Broadway. He also shares stories from his recent work on IN TRANSIT and ALLEGIANCE.

Recently on Broadway, Leung has starred in the musicals Allegiance and In Transit. He also appeared on Broadway in Flower Drum Song and Pacific Overtures and was part of the final Broadway company of the hit musical Rent. He originated Boq in the Chicago production of Wicked and played Dalton Academy Warbler Wes on Fox's smash television series 'Glee.'
