Over the course of each Broadway season, unexpected and unique storylines inevitably pop up. This morning, with the announcement of the 2019 Tony Award nominations, a number of new narratives have come to life.

Bay Street Theater is pleased to announce the cast and creative team for the first show of the 2019 Mainstage Season. The World Premiere of THE PROMPTER (May 28- June 16) a new comedy by Wade Dooley; will be directed by Scott Schwartz, Bay Street Theater's Artistic Director.

Simon Bonney has released his song “Eyes of Blue” today via Brooklyn Vegan. The track appears on forthcoming compilation album Past, Present, Future, out May 3, 2019 on Mute.  Past, Present, Future includes songs from his last two albums Forever (1992) and Everyman (1994) as well as 6 new tracks, including the title track for an unreleased album Eyes of Blue. Austin and Los Angeles - South by Southwest® (SXSW®) Film Festival and CherryPicks,® a digital brand dedicated to the female critical voice, are excited to announce the inaugural 2019 CherryPicks Female First Feature Award.  The CherryPicks Female First Feature Award will award prize money to a first time narrative female director in the SXSW 2019 Film lineup whose team includes at least one female producer. While in Austin, CherryPicks will also host a SXSW Conference panel on March 8: 'What Makes Critics Love, or Hate A Movie.'

The Wick Theatre will present the timeless musical comedy Crazy for You, one of the most entertaining shows of all time--a musical feast that showcases more than 20 Gershwin songs and recreates the golden era of the 1930's follies-style lavish production numbers. Following an exhilarating 2018-19 season, Hillbarn Theatre, the Peninsula's premier theatre company, announced the productions that will comprise its 2019-20 season. Highlights include the hilarious maritime musical, ANYTHING GOES; the satirical farce, IT'S ONLY A PLAY; the Tony Award-winning musical, NEWSIES; the Broadway sci-fi cult musical, LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS; the sidesplitting play, LAUGHTER ON THE 23RD FLOOR; and the critically-acclaimed musical, LA CAGE AUX FOLLES. Hillbarn Theatre closes its season with the world premiere play THE FOUR GIFTS, based on the memoir of San Mateo local Fr. Joseph Bradley. The short film, “Unspoken,” directed by Jamaican-born, New York-based director Danae Grandison has been named an official selection in the 27th annual Pan African Film & Arts Festival (PAFF), set to take place February 7-18, 2019 at Cinemark Rave 15, located at 3650 Martin Luther King Drive, and the adjacent Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza in Los Angeles.

A holiday tradition returns to the McCallum as Dave Koz and Friends Christmas Tour 2018 brings together a magical combination of musicians to celebrate this special season. A HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS – THE 20TH ANNIVERSARY will be broadcast Friday, Dec. 21 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. Host LL COOL J will introduce inspirational stories about children adopted from foster care, and Gwen Stefani, Train and Lukas Graham will each perform. Highlights from the Grove's annual tree-lighting ceremony, including a performance by Andy Grammer, will be featured during the special.

For those of us around in the days before the internet took over the shopping world, we can certainly remember the glorious gatherings we attended which were hosted by family or friends in order to sell the newly-invented hard plastic and practically indestructible storage items forever known as Tupperware. Perhaps, like me, you remember how much fun it was to make popsicles out of whatever liquid you wanted by using the Tupperware Popsicle Maker. But even better, how much fun it was at the hosted parties where you could chat and gossip while learning how to use each item properly, then decide on what you wanted and order it. For those of you who have no idea what I am talking about, or those who want to go back to those fun days, rush over to the Kirk Douglas Theatre in Culver City to be a part of DIXIE'S TUPPERWARE PARTY, the hilarious off-Broadway one-woman comedy written by Kris Andersson starring Dixie Longate which took the theater world by storm and garnered a prestigious Drama Desk Award nomination.

Berkeley Repertory Theatre today announced the full cast and creative team for Paradise Square: An American Musical. The world premiere is helmed by acclaimed director Moises Kaufman, with choreography by the legendary Bill T. Jones and a book by Marcus Gardley, Craig Lucas, and Larry Kirwan. Music by Jason Howland and Larry Kirwan, with lyrics by Nathan Tysen, and based on the songs of Stephen Foster. Paradise Square is produced by special arrangement with Garth H. Drabinsky in association with Peter LeDonne and Teatro Proscenium Limited Partnership.

Hartford Opera Theater will offer New in November 9, a collection of short operas and opera excerpts. This opera festival will play Sunday, November 18 (7pm) at The Cathedral House at Christ Church Cathedral, 45 Church Street, Hartford, CT. Tickets for the Canadian premiere of Sting's acclaimed musical The Last Ship will go on public sale Monday November 12. Presented by David Mirvish and produced by Karl Sydow and Kathryn Schenker, the limited six-week engagement runs February 9 through March 24, 2019 at Toronto's Princess of Wales Theatre.
