The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts today announced its 2021–2022 Theater season featuring hit Broadway musicals, acclaimed plays, Kennedy Center productions, special programming for the Center’s 50th Anniversary, and more, beginning in October 2021.

The awards honored six musicals from Broadway, Off-Broadway, and the West End with nominations for Best Musical Theatre Album - 'Jagged Little Pill,' 'American Utopia,' 'Little Shop of Horrors,' 'The Prince of Egypt,' 'Soft Power,' and Amélie.'

South Street Seaport Museum has launched a Collections Online Portal featuring over 1,300 pieces on virtual display available now with more to be added on an on-going basis, allowing audiences to explore New York City's past through the archives, artifacts, and photographs of the South Street Seaport Museum.

On Friday, April 9, 2021, The Crossing will release its 24th album, English composer Gavin Bryars' concert-length musical essay A NATIVE HILL, on Navona Records. A Native Hill, based on the early writings of American author and activist Wendell Berry, is Bryars' most substantial work for a cappella choir and was written as a gift for The Crossing.

The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center has announced their Spring season of digital offerings from April 1 to July 1, which is dedicated to the late Gustave M. Hauser.  CMS presents 28 digital programs, with concerts premiering on Thursday evenings at 7:30 and educational and hybrid talk-and-performance programs premiering on Monday evenings.

The Boston Symphony Orchestra brings its first-ever all-online season—with near weekly concert streams distributed through its new streaming platform BSO NOW, November 2020-April 2021—to an end with four programs led by BSO Music Director Andris Nelsons, released each Thursday at noon, March 25–April 29, at www.bso.org/now.

The cast of Amour will feature Derrick Baskin, Drew Gehling, Kara Lindsay, Kevin Massey, Adam Pascal, Christiani Pitts, Jennifer Saìnchez, Thom Sesma, Vishal Vaidya, and Rachel York.

White Rose is a true “COVID collaboration.” Librettist Brian Belding and composer Natalie Brice have not been in the same room together since an initial project meeting in New York in January, 2020, creating White Rose exclusively on Zoom.

Today, baritone Will Liverman has released Dreams of a New Day: Songs by Black Composers with pianist Paul Sánchez on Cedille Records. Liverman says, “Right now, it is more important than ever to celebrate the contributions of Black composers, and I’m honored to give voice to the art songs on this album.'

Martin Markinson, one of the leading Broadway producers and independent theatre owners of the past 50 years, died on Thursday, January 7th at his home in Santa Fe, New Mexico surrounded by love. He was 89 years old.

Artistic Director Michael Ritchie announced Center Theatre Group’s 54th season at the Ahmanson Theatre will begin in August 24, 2021, four months later than it was formerly scheduled. The season features the previously announced “The Lehman Trilogy,” “The Prom,” “Hadestown” and “Dear Evan Hansen” plus “1776” which was previously announced for the 2019 – 2020 season.
