A Midsummer Night’s Dream - 2022 - West End History , Info & More

“Are you sure that we are awake? It seems to me that yet we sleep, we dream.”

Experience Shakespeare’s best-loved comedy in the heart of Covent Garden with the award-winning Iris Theatre.

It’s Midsummer’s night and the young people of Athens are getting ready for a party. Young Demetrius is about to be crowned prom king with his queen-to-be (he hopes) Hermia. Only problem is, she’s in love with someone else…

Fleeing her homecoming throne, Hermia escapes to the forest where new mysteries await her. A feuding fairy King and Queen plot revenge, a band of travelling misfits prepare for their latest performance whilst a magical trickster pursues mischief.

Expect enchantments, merriment, 90s throwbacks and love triangles aplenty in this hilarious romp through the gardens of the stunning Actors Church in Central London. Can love really conquer all?

Now in its 14th year, Iris’ summer season has become a critically-acclaimed, award-winning part of the theatrical calendar, welcoming thousands of people to the incomparable Actors’ Church right in the middle of the West End. Taking place in the grounds of the church, Iris’s Summer Season is an escape from the hustle and bustle, and an experience like no other.

__Please be aware__ that this is an outdoor promenade performance. While seating will be provided, guests will be required to move around the grounds and inside the church to watch all the action.

This performance is taking place outdoors and will go ahead even if it is raining, so please make sure to prepare for all weathers and bring a rain jacket. Disposable rain ponchos will be available if needed.

Access to the grounds for the summer shows is generally from the side gate half-way down Kings Street.

__Important Covid Information__

There will be hand sanitiser stations available throughout the grounds and the space (including inside the church) is well ventilated.

We encourage audience members to wear mask if it makes them feel more comfortable too.
