A stellar cast brightens a Romberg favorite. Operetta, as a genre, arose in the 1850's and swelled into a widely beloved form of entertainment. In America its chief luminaries were Sigmund Romberg, Victor Herbert, and Rudolf Friml. From the 1920's to the '40's the modern musical gradually drove operettas from the stage (except for the happily undying works of Gilbert & Sullivan). And I miss them! So I greatly approve of Winter Opera's offering us this old piece.

The Cleveland Orchestra has announced its full lineup of classical music concerts for its 2023 Blossom Music Festival. The festival, located at Blossom Music Center in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park, runs from July 1 to September 9, and features 24 concerts.

Seattle Theatre Group heads into its 24th season of its Silent Movie Mondays series with Buster Keaton's feature Go West (1925) and short film One Week (1920), both written, directed and produced by Keaton.

With the actor suffering from acute laryngitis, Theater for the New City has been forced to postpone the return engagement of Ronald 'Smokey' Stevens in his one-man, two character production, 'I Just Want to Tell Somebody.' The piece was scheduled to be re-mounted November 10-27, 2022 and will now take stage June 1-18, 2023.

To share an exceptional show with a wider audience, Theater for the New City will present a return engagement November 10-27 of Smokey Stevens  in 'I Just Want to Tell Somebody.'
