Every Christmas for the past twenty-four years, Tomáseen Foley's A Celtic Christmas has crisscrossed the country, bringing to packed venues his authentic remembrance of a way of life that is, alas, no longer with us. The show's Music Director is Grammy Award-winning guitarist and Santa Cruz resident William Coulter, an internationally recognized master of the steel-string guitar.

Apollo's Fire, the Cleveland Baroque Orchestra kicks off the 2014-15 Season with a festive celebration of J.S. Bach's "Orchestral Fireworks," launching a season that will celebrate Bach's 330th birthday throughout the year. In these opening concerts, the group will unveil three great Bach pieces never yet played by Apollo's Fire: Concerto in C minor for Two Harpsichords, BWV 1060 (featuring Jeannette Sorrell and Joe Gascho on harpsichord), Violin Concerto in E Major (featuring AF concertmaster Olivier Brault), and Orchestral Suite No. 2 in B Minor for Flute & Strings (featuring Kathie Stewart on flute). Following its sold-out debut performance at Carnegie Hall earlier this year, Apollo's Fire - The Cleveland Baroque Orchestra returns to New York bringing its new and acclaimed Christmas on Sugarloaf Mountain: An Irish-Appalachian Celebration program to the Metropolitan Museum of Art on December 16, 2018. This program, created by Apollo's fire Founder and Artistic Director Jeannette Sorrell, explores the Celtic roots of Appalachian Christmas traditions and premiered in Cleveland in December 2017 with six sold-out concerts.  The program is now available in a new recording from AVIE Records, released in October 2018.

This summer, Apollo's Fire embarks on its fourth international tour, performing with world-renowned violinist, Alina Ibragimova, at the BBC Proms in London (Aug. 15), The Aldeburgh Music/Snape Proms in the UK (Aug. 16), and performing a separate chamber program at the Tuscany Musical Landscapes Festival in Italy (Aug. 21). Apollo's Fire's debut at the BBC Proms will be followed by a VIP reception hosted by the U.S. Embassy Chargé d'Affaires. Additionally, Apollo's Fire presents “Greatest Hits of the 1720s” at the prestigious Tanglewood Festival in Lenox, MA on July 2.

Back by popular demand - Apollo's Fire reprises its latest creative crossover program by Artistic Director Jeannette Sorrell, in collaboration with guest co-director Nell Snaidas.  “Sephardic Journey: Wanderings of the Spanish Jews” premiered in five sold-out concerts in February 2014.  The program will be performed during February 4-7 at several venues, including an important debut at the new Maltz Performing Arts Center of Case Western Reserve University. The performances will coincide with a highly anticipated release of the program on CD, for British record label AVIE.

Apollo's Fire continues their busy 2017/2018 season with a 5-city tour of their celebrated A Night at Bach's Coffeehouse program, including the ensemble's debut at Carnegie Hall on Thursday, March 22. Conceived and conducted by the ensemble's founding artistic director, conductor/harpsichordist Jeannette Sorrell, A Night at Bach's Coffeehouse is inspired by the coffeehouse concerts led by J.S. Bach in Leipzig during the 18th century and features music by Bach and his contemporaries, including Telemann, Handel, and Vivaldi. The tour begins at Catamount Arts in St. Johnsbury, VT on March 20 and concludes at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, VA on March 27.

Jeannette Sorrell, recognized as one of today's most creative early music conductors, will make her subscription debut conducting the National Symphony Orchestra (NSO) with four performances of Handel's Messiah, December 14 through December 17. Joined by four gifted soloists and the University of Maryland Concert Choir under the direction of Edward Maclary, Sorrell will lead the NSO in her fresh perspective that highlights the theatrical, spiritual, and musical storytelling of Handel's classic oratorio.

The American Irish Repertory Ensemble is bringing a colorful, lighthearted celebration of Christmas to the Studio Theatre at Portland Stage. The company presented staged versions of beloved Irish folktales, Dylan Thomas' A Child's Christmas in Wales and Susan and Tony Reilly's A Wren's Tale, told in song, verse, and in the Celtic dance of the StIllson School of Irish Dance troupe. The veteran actors and cast of charming children brought a warmth and naturalness to the 'feel-good' evening.

Apollo's Fire, the Cleveland Baroque Orchestra, proudly announces its 24th season under Music Director Jeannette Sorrell.  Fresh from a series of highly prestigious international engagements this summer, Apollo's Fire enters a new era as one of Northeast Ohio's two world-class orchestras.  Following the ensemble's triumphant debut at the Tanglewood Festival in July, the press remarked simply: “Apollo's Fire conquered Tanglewood. The encore truly brought the house down.” (The Boston Music Intelligencer).  With AF's  already sold-out BBC Proms and Aldeburgh Festival debuts both slated for this August, “Apollo's Fire under the direction of Sorrell has put Cleveland firmly on the period-performance map” (The New Yorker). After a critically acclaimed East Coast Tour last month which included a Carnegie Hall debut on March 22, Apollo's Fire launches a new production of Monteverdi's L'Orfeo (Orpheus in the Underworld) starting on April 13 in Cleveland. Conducted by founding artistic director Jeannette Sorrell and directed by British stage director Sophie Daneman, the semi-staged production will include a historically reconstructed version of the work's original ending, as well as period dancers, digital scenic projections, and a stellar cast of singers. Apollo's Fire will present Monteverdi's L'Orfeo on tour at three leading American performing arts institutions; return visits to University Musical Society in Ann Arbor on April 15 and Cal Performances in Berkeley on April 20, and a debut at Green Music Center in Sonoma on April 22.
