Skylight Music Theatre has announced the creative team for the smash hit musical Mamma Mia! running from September 23 – October 16, 2022. Performances take place in the Cabot Theatre at the Broadway Theatre Center.

Writers Theatre Executive Director Kathryn M. Lipuma and Interim Artistic Director Bobby Kennedy announced the company’s 2022/23 four-play season, including Mike Lew’s Tiger Style!, directed by Brian Balcom; Manual Cinema’s Christmas Carol, and more.

Skylight Music Theatre announced the full cast for the Wisconsin premiere of Dennis DeYoung’s The Hunchback of Notre Dame, running May 20 through June 12, 2022. Performances take place in the beautiful Cabot Theatre at the Broadway Theatre Center, 158 N. Broadway, in Milwaukee’s Historic Third Ward.

Trinity Repertory Company's next production in the 2021-22 Season is August Wilson's Gem of the Ocean, the first play chronologically in the iconic playwright's American Century Cycle. Directed by resident company member Jude Sandy, Gem of the Ocean features a multigenerational cast of local artists.

“Leave comedy to the bears, Ebenezer!” Back in 1992, the idea that the Muppets could do a passable version of Charles Dickens’ classic novella may have been a stretch of the imagination for some, but fast forward to 2021 and it’s a tradition for many; “I didn’t realise this many people liked the Muppets!”, squealed a young girl to her father as she made her way to her seat.

Spirited, an upcoming movie musical adaption of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol, has added Sukari Jones, Khiyon Hursey and Mark Sonnenblick, as new songwriters to join Pasek and Paul in writing original music for the film. The cast includes Ryan Reynolds, Will Ferrell, Octavia Spencer, and Sunita Mani.

Spirited, a new holiday musical adventure starring Ryan Reynolds and Will Ferrell has officially begun filming, and it looks like the film's stars are bonding through music on camera and behind the scenes.

English National Opera (ENO) today announces A Christmas Carol, a festive spectacular in collaboration with London Musical Theatre Orchestra (LMTO).

Playwright Michael Wilson has turned all of Act I into a walk down the 'yellow brick road' of London, where Scrooge meets three vendors who will resurface more translucently later that night. It's as eye-rolling as it sounds and even more boring than you can imagine. Heads were nodding all around me. Only my coffee kept mine upright.

Sir Patrick Stewart's acclaimed one-man version of A CHRISTMAS CAROL will return for two nights only, December 11 and December 13, at Theater 511 (511 West 54th Street) to benefit City Harvest and Ars Nova.

Despite its flaws, it will immediately put you in the Christmas spirit!

To sum up the Goodman Theatre's pairing of holiday productions this season: it was the best of humanity; it was the worst of humanity. While Tiny Tim's blessings and Scrooge's transformation warm hearts nightly in the Goodman's Albert Theatre, across the lobby in the Owen Theatre is a much different scene: a sardonic sendup of Christmas commercialism as told by Crumpet, an elf in Macy's Santaland. Based on the essay by humorist David Sedaris, which propelled him to fame when he performed it on NPR in 1992, Joe Mantello's one-man stage adaptation of THE SANTALAND DIARIES stars Matt Crowle and is directed by Steve Scott.

By the time December hits (and oftentimes well before), it's impossible to browse theatre listings without running across half a dozen productions of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol. Tis the season for holiday theatergoing! This year, Goodman Theatre offers two choices for Chicago audiences-Charles Dickens' classic A Christmas Carol, now in its 41st year, and the Goodman debut of David Sedaris' contemporary, irreverent The Santaland Diaries, adapted by Joe Mantello.

As a holiday tradition, Christopher Savage of Exeter and his family sit around the dinner table each year reading aloud from "A Christmas Carol," the iconic tale by Charles Dickens. It is no wonder, then, that when the Player's Ring asked Savage to write an adaptation of this emotional holiday story, he chose to incorporate more language from the 19th Century British author.
