For one-night only, on Saturday, July 16th at 8:00 PM, Queens Theatre proudly presents FELA! The Concert. Featuring members of the original Broadway cast from the highly acclaimed Tony Award-winning production FELA!, this 90-minute concert is full of energy in constant motion.

FEINSTEIN'S/54 BELOW, Broadway's Supper Club, welcomes Tony Award winner Lillias White this May in her show Divine Sass, A tribute to the Divine One – Sarah Vaughan. Lillias White is internationally recognized for her work on both the stage and screen, with credits including The Life, Chicago, Fela!, Dreamgirls, Once on This Island, and many more.

The trailer for NEPTUNE FROST the visionary Sci-Fi musical from musician, poet, and artist Saul Williams and filmmaker Anisia Uzeyman and executive produced by Stephen Hendel (Finding Fela) and Lin-Manuel Miranda is available now. The film opens June 3 via Kino Lorber. Neptune Frost is described as Djibril Diop Mambéty tinged with hypnotic neon visuals and pulsating original music from Williams.

Olney Theatre Center announced its 84th season today, unveiling plans for seven theatrical productions that will serve as the tentpoles for an increasingly diverse slate of cultural offerings.

Following a transformative season of performances—including three regional premieres, the inaugural year of the National Capital New Play Festival, and the world premieres of Tim J. Montgomery County’s two leading theatre companies are teaming up again to co-produce a pair of shows in 2023. Olney Theatre Center and Round House Theatre will produce the Broadway musical Fela! (July 7, 2023 - August 13, 2023) on the Olney Mainstage and will mount James Graham’s Tony-nominated play Ink on Round House’s Bethesda stage during the 2023-24 season. The two organizations last collaborated in 2016 and 2017 to produce both parts of Angels in America at Round House, followed by In the Heights at Olney Theatre, the latter of which went on to win the Helen Hayes Award for Outstanding Production of a Musical.

Manhattan Theatre Club announced casting for Manhattan Theatre Club’s Broadway premiere of Skeleton Crew. The cast will feature Chanté Adams (A Journal for Jordan), Brandon J. Dirden (MTC’s Jitney), and Adesola Osakalumi (Fela!) joining previously announced Tony Award winner and five-time Emmy Award nominee Phylicia Rashad (A Raisin in the Sun).

Lillias White (Dreamgirls, Cats, Once On This Island, How to Succeed, The Life, Fela!) is the kind of performer who engenders adoration. She serves up joy and talent in giant portions in everything she does. She won the Tony for The Life, the Obie for Romance in Hard Times, and a Daytime Emmy for her role on Sesame Street. She was also Tony-nominated for her stunning turn in Fela! Her voice is instantly recognizable. No one sings like her. The force of her voice and her presence is as elemental as air, water, earth, and fire.

On Saturday 10th July, Chineke! Orchestra presents its second Royal Festival Hall concert as part of Southbank Centre's Summer Reunion series. Conducted by Matthew Kofi Waldren, it features two symphonies by African-American composers and the debut of an exciting emerging pianist on the classical music scene.

An audio adaptation of the musical FELA!, written and directed by filmmaker Funa Maduka, will premiere on Clubhouse, the popular drop-in audio chat platform, on Saturday, May 15 and Sunday, May 16.

Tony Award-winner Lillias White is a powerhouse stage presence, known for her performances in Broadway productions such as The Life and Fela!, Off-Broadway productions including Texas in Paris, and Romance in Hard Times, which won her an Obie Award, and for lending her voice to the role of Calliope in Disney's 1997 Hercules film, plus much more!  

In response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and the difficulties of presenting in-person concerts, the Cathedral of St. John the Divine has launched a weekly series of online music recitals, Tuesdays at 6, on the Cathedral’s Facebook page and YouTube channel.
