Earlier this month, we marked the 91st birthday of the living legend that is Stephen Sondheim with a look back at five London productions of his work that are embedded in my memory. This week, we honour a quintet of performances that has achieved the same result, even if this has meant choosing from an astonishing array of riches that could populate a column like this ten times over. In any case, here are just a few of the Sondheim star turns that linger in the mind.

Det Norske Teatret will be streaming 'MUSIKALAR I 100' from 5/29

2013 marked Det Norske Teatret's 100th anniversary. To celebrate this occasion the theatre put on a rather intimate production named 'Musikalar i 100' with a small cast presenting moments from their past achievements. The cast included performers such as Hedi Ruud Ellingsen, Heidi Gjermundsen Broch, Gjertrud Jynge, Paul Åge Johannessen and Frank Kjosås. This archival production will be streamed at the theatres webpage from May 29th at 8.00 pm (local time) and will be available for a limited time.

On May 9 (7:30pm) PBS Poetry in America will air 'Finishing The Hat' - Stephen Sondheim. Sondheim is widely hailed as the greatest modern American musical theater composer. Series creator Elisa New speaks with Broadway stage actors including Melissa Errico, writer Adam Gopnik, and others to explore Sondheim's singular ability to blend lyrics and music-using as their case study this song from his Pulitzer Prize-winning musical Sunday in the Park with George.
