The LEGENDARY Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin, was in the house last night at Disney's hit production of ALADDIN on Broadway and after the show posed with the excited cast -- and BroadwayWorld.com was there to capture the magic moment (no lamp required!).

Broadway Sessions returns with cast of ALADDIN on September 4, 2014. Broadway Sessions takes place every Thursday evening at The Laurie Beechman Theater inside The West Bank Cafe located at 407 west 42nd street (corner of 42nd street and 9th avenue). 212-695-6909. Doors open at 10pm for open mic. Showtime at 11. $5 drink specials all night. $5 cover includes a donation to Broadway Cares/Equity Fights Aids.

Tony winning actor James Monroe Iglehart, who portrays 'Genie' in the musical, honored the original Genie, late actor Robin Williams, by leading the theater audience in a sing-along of 'Friend Like Me.'

As the world mourns the loss of comedic great Robin Williams, James Monroe Iglehart, who currently plays the onstage counterpart to Williams' beloved 'Genie' from ALADDIN, released the following statement on the tragedy:

Robin Williams is well known for his voice work as the high-energy, pun-tastic, hilarious 'Genie' in Disney's 1992 animated film. And now cast members from Broadway's Aladdin have reacted to the actor's passing, including the show's current, Tony-winning 'Genie' James Monroe Iglehart and standby Michael James Scott. Lea Salonga, the singing voice of Jasmine in the iconic ALADDIN film took a magic carpet ride to Broadway for a night to visit Aladdin himself - Adam Jacobs! Salonga provided the singing voice of two official Disney Princesses: Jasmine in Aladdin (1992), and Fa Mulan in Mulan (1998) and Mulan II (2004). She was named a Disney Legend in 2011 for her work with The Walt Disney Company. Most recently, she's toured with IL DIVO.

Prince Ali could soon be taking a magic carpet ride across the pond, according to the Daily Mail. Disney Theatrical Productions executives are set to meet with London Palladium officials to talk about bringing Aladdin to the West End in 2016. Their first choice, the Prince Edward Theatre, is already occupied by MISS SAIGON.
