La Jolla Playhouse announces four of six productions for its 2020/2021 season, including the world premieres of Bhangin' It, book by Mike Lew (Tiger Style!) and Rehana Lew Mirza (DNA New Work Series' Child of Colonialism), music and lyrics by Sam Willmott, directed by Amy Anders Corcoran, co-produced with McCarter Theatre Center; and Mother Russia, by UC San Diego MFA alumna Lauren Yee (Cambodian Rock Band), directed by Tyne Rafaeli (The Coast Starlight); along with What the Constitution Means to Me, the acclaimed work by Pulitzer Prize finalist Heidi Schreck, directed by Oliver Butler; and the previously-announced, Broadway-bound musical Lempicka, book and lyrics by Carson Kreitzer, music by Matt Gould, directed by 2019 Tony Award winner Rachel Chavkin (Broadway's Hadestown).

'19: The Musical' is the brainchild of Through the 4th Wall co-founders, Jennifer Schwed and Doug Bradshaw. Both DC natives, Schwed and Bradshaw conceived the idea of a musical about the passage of the 19th Amendment in 2016, and, along with Composer Charlie Barnett, have been overseeing workshops and concert performances for the last two years. Now, the team is preparing for the premiere of the full production, to be staged at the National Museum of Women in the Arts November 25-27.

The Vermont hills will come alive with the beloved Rodgers and Hammerstein musical The Sound of Music at the Barrette Center for the Arts in White River Junction for the holidays, November 20 a?" More than half of all available tickets for this production are already sold and Northern Stage anticipates many sold out performances. Early ticket purchasing is highly recommended.

Goodspeed Musicals has announced this year's cast of A Connecticut Christmas Carol - the musical treat infused with Connecticut flavor by LJ Fecho and Michael O'Flaherty. Perfect for the holidays, A Connecticut Christmas Carol, the family-friendly take on the Dickens classic, will return to The Terris Theatre December 4 - 28, 2019. This production is supported in part by the Richard P. Garmany Fund at the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving, Masonicare at Chester Village and GKN Aerospace Services Structures Corporation.

Rising alt-pop trio TWIN XL releases their infectious new single 'Messy' today available on all digital streaming platforms now via Position Records/The Orchard. The band's new single that impacts alternative radio on Tuesday, November 12. The single, which exclusively premiered yesterday on LADYGUNN Magazine, is self-produced and written by the band alongside Little Hurt (Colin Dieden of The Mowgli's). TWIN XL is currently supporting The Maine on their 'The Mirror' Tour hitting major markets nationwide including recent upcoming shows in New York City, Boston, Chicago, and Portland.

National Alliance for Musical Theatre announces final casting for the 31st Annual FESTIVAL OF NEW MUSICALS, which takes place on Thursday, October 24 and Friday, October 25, 2019 at New World Stages (340 West 50th Street, between 8th and 9th Avenues).

The Napa Valley Museum Yountville announces the opening on October 16 of an extraordinary two week a?oePop-Upa?? exhibition in the Spotlight Gallery: Les Femmes Surréalistes, featuring the original paintings of Frida Kahlo, Leonora Carrington, and Leonor Fini among others. The exhibition celebrates the upcoming two day conference: Making HERstory: Today, Tomorrow and Yesterday a?" Louise Mandrell has been waiting for this week for, well, 30 years. Playing Favorites, her first album in as many years, will be released by Time Life this Friday, October 4, 2019. New York's leading LGBTQ film festival, NewFest, has announced the full lineup of their 31st annual celebration of the year's best LGBTQ films from around the world. As announced earlier this week, the festival will kick off the festival's 31st edition with the New York premiere of Mike Doyle's Manhattan-set ensemble rom-com SELL BY, featuring an eclectic cast including Scott Evans (Netflix's “Grace and Frankie”), Kate Walsh (ABC's “Grey's Anatomy”), Academy Award-nominee and Emmy Award-winner Patricia Clarkson, Michelle Buteau (Netflix's “Tales of the City”) and Augustus Prew (HIGH-RISE), and will close the festival with the New York premiere of Rodrigo Bellott's award-winning film TU ME MANQUES, which was recently announced as Bolivia's submission for Best International Feature Film selection for the 2019 Academy Awards.
