Footloose: The Musical at Renton Civic Theatre

Renton, WA – Join Renton Civic Theatre this June for Footloose: The Musical - a fabulous story of teenage rebellion and the power of dance to fix every problem.

The action is set in the present-day, in a small town called Bomont. After a tragedy, Bomont bans dancing, seemingly for good, and returns to "old-fashioned" values at the behest of the town's leader, Reverend Shaw. When a well-meaning newcomer named Ren shows up with big city experience, he disturbs the peace of a town still reeling from that tragic loss. Then, when Ren starts high school, he makes fast friends - and enemies - only to realize that the girl of his dreams is dating the town bad boy. To make matters worse: no one is allowed to dance!

Ariel is the preacher’s daughter, and she has her sights set on one thing - getting out of Bomont. When Ren shows up, he makes her rethink her most important relationships - except with Rusty, Wendy Jo and Urleen, her best girlfriends.

Footloose: The Musical is sprinkled with notable 80s tunes (Holding On For a Hero, Somebody’s Eyes, Almost Paradise, and of course, Footloose) from Kenny Loggins and others, just like the 1980s movie this show is based on. Director Eleanor Withrow has assembled a cast of new & familiar faces that glitters with talent, wit and enthusiasm and music director Mark Rabe is helping them polish & shine those 80s pop favorites. And of course, this show is absolutely filled to the brim with dancing - lead by superstar choreographer Annalisa Brinchmann.
