Unexpected Productions, Seattle's longest-running improv comedy company, invites audiences to step into the studio of an improvised sitcom with Black Ice: An American Sitcom Improvised, a fresh, interactive comedy performance in the style of iconic television producer and writer Norman Lear. The show runs Sundays at 7:00 PM on Feb. 1 - Feb. 22, at the Market Theater in Pike Place Market.

Black Ice turns traditional improv on its head by placing the live audience at the heart of the creative process. Inspired by the groundbreaking sitcoms of Lear, including All in the Family, The Jeffersons, Good Times, and Maude, the talented ensemble will take audience suggestions and transform them into a completely improvised American sitcom right before your eyes.

“Be part of an improvised television sitcom in the style of Norman Lear”. This show emphasizes audience participation in providing laughs, ideas, and the essential ‘laugh track' that fuels the show's momentum.

Audiences can expect sharp humor, spontaneous character work, and episodes that capture the spirit, if not the exact structure, of classic Lear comedy: bold, socially aware, and outrageously funny. With your ideas shaping the narrative, no two performances will ever be the same. There are two espisodes at each Sunday's performance

Unexpected Productions has been a cornerstone of Seattle's vibrant theater scene, producing innovative improvised shows and serving as a creative hub for performers and audiences alike. Based in Post Alley at Pike Place Market, UP's Market Theater has welcomed generations of Seattle comedy lovers and continues to expand the boundaries of live improvised performance.
