Welcome to 2026! To kick off the new year, I headed to The Royal Theatre in Benton for The Young Players’ production of DISNEY’S DESCENDANTS THE MUSICAL, directed by the amazing Justin A. Pike—and what a magical way to start the year.

Young Players Second Stage at The Royal Theatre will present Disney’s Descendants: The Musical, a youth production based on the Disney Channel film. Performances will take place at The Royal Theatre in Benton, Arkansas.

The National Theatre and Playful Productions have announced that Inter Alia, the National Theatre's recent production will transfer to the West End next Spring for a strictly limited season.

Kicking off my new series spotlighting families in Arkansas theatre, I sat down with backstage dynamo Billie Overstreet and her on-stage powerhouse daughter Belle (my very first profile in the series) just as The Rocky Horror Show struts into Actors Theatre of Little Rock, October 15–31.

Written by Toby Marlow and Lucy Moss and directed by Tanner Oglesby, this show is anything but your typical musical. Yes, there’s singing (and honey, these Queens don’t just sing—they slay), there’s dancing (more like a night out at the club than a polished Broadway routine), and there’s acting (delivered with a wink and plenty of sass).

The Argenta Contemporary Theatre in North Little Rock spotlighted Arkansas theatre royalty with its bold and emotionally rich production of Gypsy: A Musical Fable, which captivated audiences from April 9–19. This golden-age musical, considered one of Broadway’s most enduring masterpieces, was brought to life with striking precision and artistry that riveled any Broadway show. With a book by Arthur Laurents, score by Jule Styne, and lyrics by a young Stephen Sondheim, Gypsy demands both powerhouse performances and thoughtful direction—and Argenta delivered on all fronts. 

On Wednesday, April 2, at 7 PM on KARK, 11-year-old Jaydon Clark of North Little Rock makes his debut on Chicago Med in the episode titled 'The Book of Archer.' We cannot wait to see it!

As one of their last main shows in their space that they have been inhabiting for about a decade, the Studio Theatre in Little Rock brings the timeless charm of ANNIE to life in a heartwarming production with songs that you know and love now through Sunday, Dec. 15. It’s going to be sad to say goodbye to their theatre at 320 W 7th St, in Little Rock, but Broadway World is intrigued on where we are going next.  

Omigod you guys! There is only one more weekend left, August 1-4, to catch LEGALLY BLONDE, a fantastic celebration of personal growth all wrapped up in pink at The Studio Theatre, 320 W 7th St, in Little Rock, assuming that there are tickets left.

I love this cast. Seriously! They cracked me up. I was, of course, familiar with the story already, so I was able to fully enjoy seeing what the actors brought to their roles, and they really embraced the over-the-top qualities of their characters.

Broadway World took a two-hour vacation with JIMMY BUFFETT’S ESCAPE TO MARGARITAVILLE Thursday, June 22, at the Studio Theatre, 320 W 7th St, in Little Rock. We were all partying to this jukebox musical, singing along to the hits, making new friends, and sipping on our tasty margaritas. The only thing missing was a nice juicy cheeseburger.
