The Singer at Dundee Rep Theatre

The Singer is a piece of gig theatre written and directed by Cora Bissett, with music and lyrics by Grammy Award-nominated KT Tunstall, presented by Dundee Rep Theatre and Solar Bear in collaboration with Aberdeen Performing Arts. The production tells the story of Joe, a deaf artist who sings with his hands, and Andy, a washed-up musician hungry for a comeback, performed in spoken English and British Sign Language with captioning. Award-winning deaf artist Jamie Rea leads the production as Joe, alongside actor-musician Dylan Wood as Andy, with Hannah Jarett Scott and deaf actor Petre Dobre portraying an Oracle and other characters. The stage production evolved from a short film co-written by Bissett and Rea that premiered at EIFF 2023.
