The Burns Project returns to The Royal Lyceum Theatre in Edinburgh from June 24 to July 5, 2026, following sold-out runs at the Edinburgh Fringe, two national tours, and a US tour. Created with The National Trust for Scotland and directed by Cora Bissett, the production draws on Burns' private letters, poems, and live music to explore the man behind the legend in all his brilliance and contradictions. Scottish performer James Clements brings the material to life at an intimately designed dinner table, where hidden voices, music, and secrets animate the set, with musician Lisa Rigby joining for the first week and multi-instrumentalist Ray Aggs for the second. The production has earned four-star reviews from The Guardian and The Scotsman, and was named one of The Herald's Top 10 shows of the festival.
