THE BURNS PROJECT Will Present Immersive Robert Burns Show at Royal Lyceum Edinburgh
James Clements and Lisa Rigby star in the production directed by Cora Bissett
THE BURNS PROJECT will return to the Royal Lyceum Theatre from June 24 through July 5, 2026. The production, created in collaboration with National Trust for Scotland, draws on private letters and archival material to explore the life and legacy of Robert Burns.
Performed by James Clements with live music, the piece combines Burns’ letters and poetry with original staging to present a portrait of the writer that emphasizes both his achievements and contradictions. The immersive production is staged around a central dinner table, placing audiences in close proximity to the action as the set incorporates hidden voices, music, and layered storytelling.
Co-created with director Cora Bissett, the production has previously played sold-out runs at the Edinburgh Fringe, as well as national and international tours, including a U.S. engagement earlier in 2026.
For the first week of performances, Clements will be joined by musician Lisa Rigby, with Ray Aggs joining for the second week. The creative team also includes lighting designer Elle Taylor, set and Costume Designer Jenny Booth, and sound designer Garry Boyle.
Tickets and additional information are available through the Royal Lyceum Theatre website.
