Revelation at theSpace @ Niddry Street

A new play about the horror and hope of being American.

The four horsemen gather at Mama Ruby's Restaurant in Nowhere, North Carolina for their annual apocalypse conference, convinced that this is the year the world will finally crash and burn. Unfortunately for them, humanity seems to have other plans. Created and performed by an ensemble of students from Ithaca College, this world premiere explores humanity's stubborn dedication to doing good even when the forces (or the horses) that be are trying as hard as they can to make it impossible. Will civilisation finally crumble, or will the horsemen's plans be halted by the power of human connection?

"One of the key themes of this show is forgiveness," says playwright Trevor Hemmerling, an interdisciplinary theatre artist completing their BA in Theatre Studies at Ithaca College. Speaking on the inspiration for their work, Trevor said:

"There is a reason I put the horsemen on stage — who are the embodiment of evil — and set the play in Southern Baptist North Carolina, a place most of our audience isn't from and don't align with morally. I wanted to tell a story that reminds us to love each other, in spite of the end of the world, or perhaps because of it."

Revelation is directed by fellow Ithaca College student Avery Wrobel, whose previous credits include The Greek Play (also by Trevor Hemmerling) and Sweeney Todd, and student-produced by LATI alum Chriss Waterman.

Los Angeles Theatre Initiative (LATI) is a new work development organisation dedicated to bringing original student work to theatre's most groundbreaking stage: the Edinburgh Fringe. Revelation: Or, The Apocalypse Comes to Mama Ruby's Restaurant was developed with the LATI New Work Development program, led by Madeline Oberle and Alex Philpott. Co-produced by LATI's Growth and Development Director Madeline Oberle and LATI Founder and Artistic Director Fiona McGrath, the show arrives fresh off a sold-out run in Ithaca, making its international debut at Edinburgh Fringe 2026.
