Dirty Dancer is a one-woman affectionate parody of the 1987 romantic dance film Dirty Dancing, created and performed by Melissa Firlit and directed by Michael Thomas Walker. The show transports audiences to the summer of 1963 at Kellerman's Resort, where Firlit plays every character from the film, blending audience interaction, physical storytelling, and the classic soundtrack to recreate every unforgettable moment, including the iconic big lift. Through the lens of Firlit's own childhood escapism and sexual awakening, the show unpacks the film's controversial themes and its championing of the underdog. Movement direction is by Kristyn Pope, with lighting design by Elaine Wong.
