Renowned Watercolor Portrait Artist Mary Whyte To Discuss Her Life And Work At Artist Talk And Book Signing

Elizabeth Goodwill, education director of Art Center Sarasota, recently announced that renowned watercolor portrait artist, author, and educator Mary Whyte will discuss her life's work and her artistic journey, Sunday, February 17, 1-3 p.m., at Art Center Sarasota. This event will include a Q&A session and book sale and signing. Tickets are $30 for members; $35 for non-members. Wine and light bites will be served. For more information about this event, visit www.artsarasota.org/whyte. Whyte is also leading a three-day watercolor workshop, February 18-20, which has been sold out.

Yoel Levi To Conduct Israel Philharmonic Orchestra at Van Wezel

The American Friends of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra announced today that Maestro Zubin Mehta has been forced to bow out of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra's upcoming 2019 U.S. Tour due to health reasons. Filling in for Mehta on the February 7th performance at the Van Wezel is Yoel Levi, one of the world's leading conductors, known for his vast repertoire, masterly interpretations and electrifying performances. The program remains the same, including Partos' "Concertino for Strings," Schubert's "Symphony No. 3" and Tchaikovsky's "Symphony No. 6" ("Pathetique").

Helmed by longtime Asolo Rep favorite Peter Amster, this hilariously imagined sequel to the Ibsen classic previews January 16 and 17, opens January 18 and runs through March 31 in rotating repertory in the Mertz Theatre, located in the FSU Center for the Performing Arts.
