For the 40th season of Free Shakespeare in the Park, SF Shakespeare Festival presents Shakespeare's romantic comedy "Much Ado About Nothing". This beloved classic features the intermingling of two different love stories - Hero and Claudio, whose love is challenged by jealousy, and Beatrice and Benedick who work through their past history with each other to find love again. The villainy of Don John and the malaprop-spouting Constable Dogberry add to the fun!
Much Ado's humor isn't purely escapist - the darker side of life is very much present, and the lovers have to be brave enough to take risks and be willing to change. "It feels like a good story for our 40th," says Rebecca J. Ennals. "Beatrice and Benedick aren't idealized young lovers, they have a history, and they've been burned in the past. Being brave enough to hope, to try again, to get back out there - their story feels right for this moment." As always, no tickets or reservations are needed. All are welcome to experience professional theatre free of charge in a beautiful park environment.

San Francisco Shakespeare Festival to Present Free MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING in September
August 28, 2022 San Francisco Shakespeare Festival's 40th Anniversary season production of Free Shakespeare in the Park will perform in McLaren Park’s Jerry Garcia Amphitheater. Performances of Shakespeare’s popular romantic comedy, Much Ado About Nothing, will take place September 3-11 on Saturdays, Sundays, and Labor Day Monday at 2:00 pm.
Free Shakespeare Comes To Redwood City This Weekend
August 11, 2022 San Francisco Shakespeare Festival's 40th Anniversary season production of Shakespeare's popular romantic comedy, Much Ado About Nothing, returns to Redwood City at a new location this summer. Performances will take place at Red Morton Community Park, Valota Rd & Vera Ave (near Picnic Area #2), August 13-28 on Saturdays and Sundays at 4:00 pm.
Play on Shakespeare Releases Spring and Summer 2022 Season
April 08, 2022 Play On Shakespeare, the not-for-profit organization dedicated to exploring the world of Shakespeare in performance through translation and adaptation, today announces their spring/summer 2022 season. Lue Douthit, President and Co-Founder says: 'Well, the theater world is definitely opening up. We literally mean 'world' (Prague, Guam, England) and suddenly there are ten professional productions of Play On translations opening in the next few months, including two in San Francisco (African-American Shakespeare Company and Cal Shakes). We are delighted that there are so many opportunities for audiences to gather together again to see and hear Shakespeare differently. Play on!'
